Gibson '50s LG-2 Acoustic-Electric Guitar Vintage Sunburst

Gibson's '50s LG-2 acoustic-electric guitar brings storied craftsmanship and heritage. This small-bodied acoustic powerhouse produces a rich, balanced tone that rivals larger guitars, with exceptional clarity and focus. Ideal for folk, blues and fingerstyle playing, the LG-2's solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides provide warmth and resonance.
Scalloped X-Bracing Enhances Sonic Depth
The '50s LG-2's scalloped X-bracing enhances the guitar's sonic depth and produces a charming, seductive tone. This bracing style allows the solid spruce top to vibrate freely, resulting in a full dynamic range, with clear highs and rich lows. The mahogany back and sides also add warmth, richness and clarity to the LG-2's tone.
Slim, Comfortable Neck Profile
The '50s LG-2's slim neck profile with a traditional rounded C-shape offers comfort and playability. The neck's 43 mm nut width and 16" radius fretboard allow for effortless transitions between chords and solos. The neck is constructed from mahogany, providing stability and sustain.
Vintage-Inspired Aethetic with Premium Appointments
With its vintage sunburst finish, the '50s LG-2 evokes the iconic Gibson acoustics of yesteryear. The guitar also features vintage-style tuners with pearloid buttons, a tortoise pickguard and a rosewood bridge. The rosewood fretboard contains 20 medium frets and classic dot inlays. A LR Baggs VTC pickup provides plug-and-play convenience for live performance and recording.
Includes Custom Hardshell Case
The '50s LG-2 comes with a custom hardshell case for safe transport and storage. The plush-lined case helps keep your guitar secure and protected when not in use.

I heard a video of an Irish teenager, finger picking blues at her Dad's guitar store in Dublin, on this model guitar. Based on that sound and her comments on the guitar quality, I ordered one … no music store nearby had one in stock. When it arrived I immediately saw how small it was, and I was like "Oh no, what have I done!" Tuned it up an played my right-hand finger- picked version of Elizabeth Cotton "Freight Train", and I was hooked! The smaller scale actually works better for my somewhat underdeveloped left hand (I broke three wrist bones in my left wrist playing basketball, at age thirteen … the left hand to this day has never caught up to the right hand,) This guitar is so responsive, almost effortless to play it. Some guitars you have to fight to get what you want out of it … this one play like a dream! I don't like the electronics battery bag inside the guitar body for the pickup … you would have to loosen all strings to swap out a battery. That could be a problem at a gig, in my opinion. Also, the way they ran the cables for the pickup inside the guitar body … I believe at times it kind of vibrates, making a razzing sound. Honestly, I would consider removing the pickup, or have it done correctly so no vibration issue,
What an amazing instrument!

Awesome tone and feel. The sound exceeded expectations (there are a few comparison videos online that do not do this guitar justice). I love the simple and understated look. The neck is described as a vintage V, but feels more like a fairly thick C to me. I love it exactly as it is though. I'm really glad I chose this amazing Gibson. I wouldn't change a single thing. Perfect!!

Wow! I took my time with this beauty before I wrote this review I wanted to be sure it wasn't just because it's was new. The more I play it, the more I'm impressed. I own several Martin and Gibson guitars, some are way more expensive, but none have anything over on this baby! The craftsmanship is superb which is to be expected from a guitar at this price. It has a rich, full and balanced voice and surprisingly loud for a smaller body guitar. It sounds great regardless of whether I'm finger picking, strumming and pick or not. It's has one of the best actions of any of the guitars I had. It you buy this guitar. I have used it with a Fender acoustic amp and the electronics are excellent. I have to increase gain, but no biggie, it sounds grest through the amp and mic'ed. The controls are simple to use I am retired and I don't gig anymore but if I do, this baby is coming with me. I can see using this guitar in any setting. I haven't recorded with it yet, but I can't see why it wouldn't be be fantastic.

Yes I would like to know how you guys do on used trade-ins? And also with trade-ins, does the financing still apply for the difference in boot?
You would need to go to a GC store for an evaluation
