Gibson is repeatedly making excellent SJ-200 guitars. I've been wanting one for over 20 years. I'm currently writing this review on my break at The House of Blues in Orlando, FL. This guitar is fantastic except for the pickup. LR Baggs just doesn't have the head room/volume I need in a live situation. I changed it and the guitar is perfect!

The sound is great for both live performances and recording. Two problems; 1. The pick guard has decided to start peeling off after 10 months of ownership. I've taken my Martin D-41 to the same venues and no issues. We will see if Gibson stands behind their warranty so expect an update to this review. 2. I changed the battery for the first time in the LR Baggs system and get a buzz when the tone "knob" is turned up. I am told this could be a battery brand issue but I put the same battery in my Martin then my Taylor with no issues. It only happens on this NEW Gibson. Warranty issue again? This is an expensive guitar, for me at least, and I'd expect better overall quality so be prepared for similar issues.

What's the difference between the 2018 and 2019 sj200? Thanks

    Open Reply - Ronald
Honestly it's just the date in the serial number. Gibson guitars are collector's items and they release a new line of them every year or two. Sometimes they'll change it up with different finishes as well.
