Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Electric Guitar Dark Bourbon

I ordered one of these last week from this listing and paid the new price for a new R9 as listed. I had it delivered to my local GC store and picked it up yesterday. What I was sent was a banged up, used trade in in an open box. I immediately pointed this out to the staff and they agreed this was not a new guitar. I was told to take it and they would do some research on the matter. I ended up calling and speaking to GC customer service and they asked for pictures and agreed this was a used guitar. GC offered to take $500 off or let me return the guitar for a refund. While I appreciate that, how does one buy a guitar at this price point and then they try to send you a banged up trade in? This is completely unacceptable business practice by GC. The guitar sounds amazing and feels great so no complaints there. If I'd bought this at their open box price I'd have no issue at all. If they'd been willing to admit their mistake and change my price to the open box price that would be fine. Watch what they send you.

This guitar is everything a Gibson Les Paul should be. The tone, the neck, perfect weight and balance and the top on the one I chose is beautiful.

Playing mostly high output Jacksons and an ESP Lynch Kamikaze, I had wanted a Les Paul again for a more traditional sound and shape but I never liked the feel of any I had tried out in store off the rack over the recent years for the price. I finally decided to pull the trigger on this one and I was able to trade in/trade up at Guitar Center with some nice gear that I didn't use as much anymore which made the 59 VOS Custom Shop Historic Reissue a bit more "affordable" to me. The Gibson custom shop has created an amazing instrument with these 59 reissues. I have never played an original burst so I cannot make a comparison in that context but this guitar is flawless with an incredible build quality and attention to original detail. The custom buckers have an amazing warm sound to them and the volume and tone controls really work well to adjust the nuances of your sound. I love playing guitars with low action and this one was set up that way on delivery so I didn't have to make any adjustments. It felt and played perfectly right out of the box and I knew I would have no remorse buying this high end instrument. I picked the dirty lemon color which to me is beautiful in and of itself and reminds me of the original bursts that have faded out over time. The appearance really captures the vintage vibe that Gibson is presenting here. The maple top is a little more subtle than a lot of the top of the line figured maple tops you might you see today but that is consistent with many of the original 59s. The VOS (vintage original sheen) finish adds to the historical appearance of the parts and body. The guitar is priced at the higher end for sure, relative to your own individual situation, however, this will be one beautiful instrument that you will want to keep for a lifetime and it is harder to put a price on a guitar like that. You certainly get what you pay for here in my opinion.

Excellent craftsmanship and great tone.Mine is a flawless masterpiece,I love the feel of the neck. It was also setup perfectly right out of the box .

This guitar is truly a work of art, it can get you that classic Les Paul tone that every guitar player wants. And it's especially good at getting the rough sounds, of bands like Led Zeppelin or ZZ Top, but no matter what you do with this guitar I guarantee you love the sounds that you'll hear.
