Gem Sound

Description

The Gem Sound PL-USB Phono-to-USB interface lets you simply plug in your tape deck, turntable, or other audio source into the phono or line input to easily transfer your music collection to your computer.

Cassette tapes, MiniDiscs, vinyl, CDs, MP3s. You've probably got music on all sorts of media. Wouldn't it be nice to get it all organized in one place, say on your computer? Wouldn't you like to clean out all the clutter or maybe at least have a backup just in case someone never returns what they've borrowed?

The compact preamp features a headphone output, gain control, and an extra signal LED for monitoring the process, ensuring your tunes sound the way you want them to. Interface also comes with Bias' SoundSoap SE software in case you need to remove the clicks, pops, and hisses often associated with music on vinyl and tapes.

My earphone monitor circuit went out also but I still get stereo. I can monitor by using out jacks in the back. Earphone output does playback music but no monitor. Monitor circuit worked badly for a while then quit. Softsoap is ok for free filter program for existing files. There is no real capture program. I use an old buggy program called Magix audio cleaning lab 2005. Good for capture and parsing. Main reason for Gemsound purchase is phono ground and ease of bringing cheap turntable near computer. Sometimes I just use Teac DR-07 to capture 2 big wave files on card and transfer, parse and clean files using cleaning lab. You can hear computer hash on usb power port so I use 9v 500ma wallwort for clean power. Inside has 3 pcbs. Top digital, bottom analog. Bet cheap analog monitor circuit bad device amp is the problem

I purchased this unit about a year ago, based on recommendations from the GC folks. I was able to master about 3 albums, and then put it away for a few months. When I came back to do some more work, I discovered that the unit no longer sent stereo audio down the USB line. Subsequent investigating showed that the headphone monitor no longer worked, and the line out was also in monaural. I've tried both a phonograph, and line input, just to check and also tried three different computers, all with the same result. I believe this unit is no longer produced, but avoid it if you see one used.

the manual for this product is badly written and easily confusing. However the product works great once you figure it out. Worth every cent. Highly recommend.

This little device works really well. Make sure that your computer has a sound recorder and you're set. Just hook it up with your turntable etc. and your usb, open up sound recorder and start. Some may think it is a little expensive but it's worth it
