I did not buy this from Guitar Center. This short scale bass sounds every bit as big as a full sized bass. It plays well and doesn't feel cheap. The pickup is so hot that I had to drop it down to the pick guard and adjust the pull pieces to get the tone and balance that I wanted. After this, the pickup gave the perfect combination of depth, warmth, and clarity. It still wasn't quite right for an 80s pop gig that really required a bridge pickup, but I was able to fix that downstream with some EQ. If you want some really trebly bass sounds, then this isn't the bass for you, but it does give you a wide option of tonal possibilities. Aside from this, using the set screw on the bridge really boosted the sustain, as advertised.
I love this bass - best bang for the buck

I bought this bass to use in a band where the guitar player and I switched instruments often. The short scale nature of the Fallout allows guitar players, or individuals who have an short or average length wingspan, to get around on the fretboard with ease. It's so much easier to sing and play bass when you've got a short scale. This thing also has sound options with the three way toggle switch. Read up on the different switch positions but I believe one of them is called OMG, and for good reason. It sounds huge. Run this into your favorite MarkBass or Aguilar amp and you're on tour, baby.
