I'd buy this guitar again & other G & L guitars soon!

I'm 59 years old and haven't been playing very long. This is my second strat and it's just for personal pleasure and also to have a little variety. I love the silver burst finish and the sweet sounds that only a Stratocaster can produce. I mainly play the blues and some classic rock with a Donner blues drive pedal in front of the amp. I'd put this up against any Player series currently available. The fit and finish are as good as guitars costing twice as much. I highly recommend this guitar. It's also Leo Fenders' last work of art making it even more desirable. You can bet I'll be adding more G & L guitars to my collection.

OK but honestly thought it would be better for a G&L

I got this on a stupid deal of the day so paid under $300 which is not a bad deal. The E string broke right away tuning it up. It had fret sprouts so need to dress the frets so did not change the strings. Nut need to be cut deeper as pitch is way off E open to F. As well as the rest the strings. I know this is more of an entry level guitar but honestly would not spend over $300. For this one. Over the past few years I have bought cheap guitars like the Squire Teles I purchased here. After doing fret leveling and dressing, new Tusq nuts, new Seymore Duncan's and Dimarzio pick ups those cheap guitars play and sound as good as any high dollar guitar. This one sounds muddy and dull compared to the others I have upgraded. I will certainly have to do some work on this one. I have not had a Strat style guitar in years even though that is what I learned to play on. This will be another project guitar for me I will probably Bucher and changed Drastically. I will have to say there are better cheaper entry level guitars out there that play and sound better then this one.

I bought this at a half price sale. Read a lot about it and was convinced that it was a great deal. When it arrived, it needed a setup after being described as great player right out of the box. Not much different than a Squier Strat. Just not as smooth as a higher price and quality instrument. Also, everything I had read suggested it was American made. Sticker attached said Made in China. Very misleading and disappointing

I bought the guitar online without having played one. I based my decision on statements from the G&L website about production and quality. The company website stated that the guitar was American made in the Fullerton California facility and known for being great to play "right out of the box". When it arrived, the action was way higher than I prefer, and it had a sticker on it that said Made in China. After a quick setup in store, it actually plays well, but has a "cheap feel ". I'm on the threshold of the 45 day return policy and still on the fence

  • I'm enjoying the guitar so far

I was disappointed that, from everything I read about the brand, it was not made in the USA. It felt cheap out of the box rather than playable as the G&L website described it. The action was very high and the frets are fairly rough at the edges. The tech at guitar center did a quick setup for action and I tweaked the intonation at home later. Getting used to it now and the sale price made it easier to accept the shortcomings. I'm probably keeping it

First, I am a big G&L fan, but this imported guitar had no quality control. The frets were uneven, rough, and made the neck virtually unplayable. I returned it to Guitar Center who provided great customer service. Who knows, the next one off the line might have been acceptable, but not the one I received. G&L needs to be more protective and watchful over their brand.

  • Excellent quality for the price

This guitar is everything you want in a Strat type guitar, but with added sustain and playability. Some reviews complained of poor fret finish or lack of setup, but I believe the first thing anyone should do with a new guitar is to put on new strings and do a set up. This guitar didn't need too much work, but a little was needed to get it where I wanted it to be. Overall quality and finish are excellent, and it sounds like you'd expect it to! Recommended!
