What the Strat could be if not held back by tradition

Trained Musician over 40 years playing live and recording. The G&L Legacy is what the Strat would have become if not held back by tradition. Leo's next design rev. Nice plek'd frets out of the box, playable from the start, Pickups are a great single coil sound but have a different voice than my Strats- Nice full voice, not muddy, not brittle and thin. Bass and Treble roll off controls are great! If you use the neck pickup with certain OD, you may like to roll the bass back a bit- unlike the Strat, you can do this. So quacky you want to learn Free Ride just to hear those tones! Quality feel similar to any of my US made Strats- better feel than the Player or MIM Strat mainly due to fret work, stable trem. My MIM Player is *not* bad. The G&L is just better. Compared to a recent US Strat side by side, both are good and in the same realm. Different flavor singles, better (for me) stable trem, feels more like a top Kahler than the old Fender trem. Squeezed a little Belew out of the Legacy... I'm a LPC guy- switching from my LP to the Legacy is easier than going from LP to Strat. Not sure why, but it is for me.
Ash, Maple, Alnico. That's the formula.

The unplugged sound is so beautiful. The volume and tone controls work great. Very little hum for single coils. Not a bother. Hot output. Sounds awesome. You can feel the quality of the workmanship.
Guitar is Great; Customer Service is Not

I love G & L guitars. They are some of the best made on the market. I own several of the USA made models and the quality is outstanding. The Musicians Friend customer service and delivery, as I state below, were terrible. Buy one from another dealer.
The G&L Fullerton Deluxe Legacy beats Fender, hands down!

After passing my 45 year old Strat on to my son, I missed it, so I bought this. NO regrets! I've seen many comparison reviews with the Fender Stratocaster that say "go with the G&L". So, I did. Sight unseen. Fender stopped giving you choices in finish colors and fingerboard combinations. Their attitude is like "You WILL settle for this if you want a Fender Stratocaster, OR pay through the nose at our Fender Custom Shop." My attitude was...nope. Riding on laurels doesn't cut it with me. This G&L plays great. Since it doesn't have the neck tilt adjustment like my old '74 Strat, I shimmed the neck to get it where I wanted it. Then re-set the saddle height and fine tuned the intonation. No tremolo issues. I agree with the reviews. I really wish Fender and G&L would once again offer the 7.25" radius fingerboard on their Strats and Fullerton Deluxe Legacy's. The Fender Classic '70's Strat does have the 7.25", but the 2 (yes, TWO) finish color-and-fingerboard choices really disappoint. The G&L Fullerton Deluxe Legacy is a 9.5" radius. After 45 years of playing a 7.25" radius fingerboard, I still notice a difference in feel, although I've had the G&L for quite awhile now. But I still love this guitar! Leo Fender was right. G&L's ARE the best guitars he's ever made. G&L also provides a very nice locking tuner replacement set for an additional cost on it's website. I'll install it next string change. This guitar looks absolutely stunning and plays fantastic! And, it's MADE IN THE USA - in Fullerton, CA - the same as my old '74 Strat. WHY settle for less?
