GAMMA 50 True Blue Speaker

High Headroom From a Massive Magnet

The single, most salient feature of the GAMMA Series is the custom-designed, premium True Blue speaker at its heart. The GAMMA G50's 12" speaker features a large, 40 oz. (1.3 kg) magnet, the largest in its class, for fast response and high headroom, combining efficiency with remarkable clarity. Its surprisingly high maximum volume makes it not just capable as a band practice amp, but it also has what it takes to more than hold its own at gigs. The G50 is a superb pedal platform and produces an extraordinarily satisfying playing experience.

GAMMA 50

From Pedal Platform to Multiple Personalities

The GAMMA G50's pristinely clean "Blue Channel" (Channel 1), was specifically designed with a clear, accurate voicing and quick response that makes it an ideal pedal platform, whether you’ve curated a pedalboard of your favorite stompboxes or are using it as the final destination for a multi-effects unit or digital modeler. Channel 2 has four carefully crafted, exceptionally dynamic voices, so that you've got virtually the entire history of guitar music available. This versatile channel provides Clean, Blues, Rock and Metal voicings that move effortlessly from twang to shred. Channels switch via a front panel button or an optional footswitch, connected to the available rear-panel jack.

GAMMA 50 Controls

Easy Control for Tweaking Your Sound

The Blue Channel is simplicity itself. Designed from the beginning to be a superb pedal platform, all this channel needs is a Volume knob and a 3-band EQ. The player lets their pedalboard do the rest. The multiple voices of Channel 2 feature a Drive knob, for dialing in just how saturated you want your sound to be, a Volume knob to balance with the Blue Channel and it shares the amp's 3-band EQ with the Blue Channel. This setup provides just enough control to easily find the tone you want, without getting overly complicated.

GAMMA 50 AUX Inputs

The I/O You Want

Lightweight, compact and versatile, the GAMMA G50 goes far beyond being that great first real amp players always remember, to being a powerful addition to the toolkit of any gigging or recording guitarist. Got more than I expected

I'm a tube amp snob. Or, at least I was… We recently moved into a multi-level home where my studio is on the ground level floor and the family room is on the second floor. As I didn't want to be dragging amps up and down the stairs all the time, I went on the hunt for nice little practice amp for the second floor. A buddy suggested the Gamma G50 and I glad he did! Out of the (very well packed!) box, the amp has a clean understated look and is big enough to house the 12" speaker without taking up a ton of space. A few things caught my eye immediately: the controls are very clearly labeled, the Bluetooth, aux and headphone controls/connections are right on the front panel and the baby blue Trueblue speaker is a beauty! MY only initial complaint is that the power switch is on the back, but it's a minor gripe. So – sound? I grabbed ESP Ted-600T first (EMG 60/81 pickups) and I was happily impressed. The first channel is fine. Volume and three well-voiced tone controls for bass, mid and treble. Good clean tone, but nothing unexpected. What was surprising was the second channel. The first thing I did was try out clean settings on each of the voicings, and I was blown away. Suddenly the tone controls sprang to life and I was able to everything from full bodied jazz tones to honky nasal spank to crunchy grind, and I as I increased the gain, it only got better. Light overdrive was wonderfully touch-sensitive and cleaned up well when I rolled back the guitar's volume knob (though the Rock and Metal voicings always had a cool amount of grit). I then twisted the gain to full STUN mode and went to town. Power chords were think and aggressive, leads had a great vocal quality and pinch harmonics rang out loud and proud on the Rock setting. The Metal setting also scoops out the mids in a very aggressive way to deliver a heck of a gutsy roar. And through all of this, the unassuming Bass, Mid and Treble knobs gave me great control over the shape uf the sound. I then swapped out a few different guitars including a tele, a sterat and a Rickenbacker and impressed by all. In the end I was able to get tones that I have never coaxed out of my more boutique tube amps and this little guy never made it out of the studio and up the stairs. Highly recommended.

Not that Impressed

It was disappointing. I was not a fan of the full clean tone channel which is really the only channel you can use to add reverb or delay into the mix with distortion… it's the "pedal platform" channel. The dirty channel wasn't great either. It did have a lot of headroom, but it didn't really feel loud enough to compete with bass and drums. I wanted to like this amp, but… eh. It's probably not bad if you're just starting on the guitar and your drummer and bassist aren't that loud. It did have Bluetooth.

I got my first electric guitar a couple of weeks ago and decided to get this along with it. People say it doesn't have enough effects, but if you mess around with bass, mid, and treble you could get practically and sound you want, or at least that's my experience. Annoying to carry.

I own Mesa Boogies, Marshall Plexis, Fender Twin, all excellent amps but have downsides, mostly weight or noisy. My favorite is my Marshall, but for some reason, my leads just didn't cut through without cranking it. I wanted an amp that was loud, light and portable, and this is it. More importantly, the True Blue speaker is voiced so your leads cut through the mix and are fat! I'm getting a Alan Holdsworth tone out of this amps that just sounds warm and awesome! This is exactly the tone I was chasing. Also, to my surprise, you can easily get rich harmonic feedback, the notes want to resonate. This is everything I want out of an amp! The presets sound great on their own, and I'm not experiencing the noise other people have complained about, but most importantly, my pedals sound incredible through this amp. Do yourself a huge favor and buy this amp! It will inspire you to play more. This amp sings!

I was trying out amps at my local GC and stumbled on this amp. Once I started jamming on it, I couldn't step away. It was in the used gear section when I saw the price and assumed it was the used gear price. I looked online later that evening and was blown away that it was actually the retail price. After a few days of thinking about it, I decided to go back to the store play to see if I still liked it. I got tons of compliments while playing and took it as a sign to go ahead with the purchase. No regrets since. This thing has monster tone in such a small package and the speaker on it is phenomenal sounding. Hard to believe it's solid-state. Simple voice settings and super easy to dial in great tones. Don't be afraid to crank it up either. This thing rocks!

Sounds amazing just might need distortion pedal if the metal settings isn't enough.
