The Friedman JJ Junior Jerry Cantrell Signature 20W Tube Guitar Amp Head delivers the iconic gain and tone of the renowned Friedman JJ-100 in a scaled-down package. Built to Friedman's exacting standards and co-designed with Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, this mighty mini amp pumps out vintage-voiced British overdrive and singing sustain.

Iconic British Overdrive in a Compact Package

The Friedman JJ Junior delivers the legendary high-gain tone of the Friedman JJ-100 in a scaled-down amp head. Powered by two EL84 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes, the JJ Junior pumps out 20W of harmonically rich tube tone with plenty of saturation on tap. The single-channel preamp features controls for volume, treble, middle and bass, plus a gain switch that boosts the gain for increased distortion. From Classic Rock crunch to metal mayhem, the JJ Junior delivers instantly recognizable British tones.

Built for the Stage and Studio

The JJ Junior's EL84 power section gives each note a singing, sustaining quality even at lower volumes. An integrated attenuator lets you dial the volume down an additional -30db for silent practice. Record direct or pair it with your favorite cab—the JJ Junior features a variable 8ohm and 16 ohm output jack, as well as a balanced XLR out for multiple recording and playing options. The Friedman JJ Junior Jerry Cantrell Signature amp head is built for real-world use on stage and in the studio.

Quality Components and Construction

Like all Friedman amps, the JJ Junior is hand-wired in the USA using only the finest components. The eye-catching vinyl and tweed exterior houses a sturdy steel chassis. The EL84 power tubes are from Friedman's personal stash and selected for tone and reliability. With premium parts, meticulous wiring and tank-tough build quality, the Friedman JJ Junior is an amp head you'll enjoy for life.

A million Yes's!!!

I bought my JJ Jr 2 years ago almost exactly from Guitar Center. If you plug an American Strat into this, switch to your neck pickup, you will fall in love immediately. I have gigged professionally for 2 years with this, my daily driver. I can't get a bad sound out of it. The warmth of the low mids and the crispness of the treble is so pristinely clear. I liken it to a 4k HD television. If you are worried about 20 watts, don't be. It's absolutely loud enough to squash a drummer with a single 12" speaker. My clean channel never goes higher than 10:00 and it's PLENTY loud. Now, the features... I love it's simplicity. The footswitch is a single button. The clean channel is a single knob. The 3-band EQ is specific to channel 2. The only control over the clean tone is a single, tiny switch by the clean volume knob. It just sounds amazing. It doesn't need doctoring, honest. The XLR out on the back of the cab with proprietary cab clone capabilities and switches for shaping tonality?! So nice! Channel 2 has the three band EQ and switches that let you mold the tone into whatever you're after. I do find this amp is not suited for high-gain in the realms of say death metal, breaking benjamin, sevendust, etc. It will do it, but if that's your bag, go with a Mesa Rectifier. Again, my opinion. But literally everything else, I give this amp an 11 out of 10. This amp is tied with my Bogner Ecstacy 50w for favorite amp. I also own and have owned Marshall JVM, Mesa Dual and Triple Rec, PRS Archon, Bogner XTC, Egnater Vengeance, Blue Voodoo, Orange OR-15. This amp sits atop all of them. I adore it!

Too hot to handle for me. Request a gain reduction toggle.

This amp is great in it's own right, but just a bit too much of a one trick pony. If I were rich, I could store it on my shelf and get it out for the super gainy parts. Clean is good though.

It took me a very long time to find an amp that works for me. The JJ Jr. does exactly that.

  • It's a Friedman, need I say more? This one is a keeper!

The sound is unmatched, Friedman amps have this satisfying playability to them. Its squishy yet tight & transparent. The volume on the dirty channel, its all or nothing...bedroom volumes (which yes, it can do) or ready to melt some faces. Would buy & recommend this again & again.
