Focusrite

Description

The Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 USB audio interface (Gen 3), a compact yet powerful audio interface that provides an uncompromised recording experience. With high-performance 24-bit/192kHz converters and two upgraded 3rd-generation Scarlett mic preamps, the 8i6 delivers pristine clarity and a wide dynamic range to capture every nuance of your performance. Switchable Air mode recreates the Air effect of Focusrite's original ISA mic preamp, imparting a brighter, more open tone to vocals and acoustic recordings.

Two Versatile Mic Preamps With "Air" Mode

The 8i6 features two of Focusrite's best-performing 3rd-generation Scarlett mic preamps with optional Air setting. Activating Air mode imparts the coveted sound of their renowned ISA mic preamp, resulting in a more natural and open reproduction of any acoustic or vocal recording. The high-headroom instrument inputs easily handle hot pickups without unwanted clipping or distortion.

Flexible Monitoring and Routing Solutions

With six flexible line inputs, two high-impedance instrument inputs and eight outputs, the 8i6 provides ample connectivity for recording multiple sound sources simultaneously. Two front-panel combo inputs accept either mic or instrument signals, while four rear-panel line inputs handle line-level sources. A pair of virtual loopback inputs allow you to capture a stereo feed from any hardware input or software playback channel. Independent headphone outputs with level control enable flexible monitoring configurations during recording and mixing.

Premium Performance and Components

The 8i6 is built to the highest standards with premium components to ensure optimal performance, maximum reliability and a long product lifespan. Super-low latency monitoring lets you overdub and mix with native plug-in effects in real time. 12V DC power supply included.

    Fantastic tech for the money

I'm a professional musician and I bought this to upgrade my travelling recording gear (I bounce from the UK to the PNW a lot and hate loosing any recording time if I can help it). I love focusrite products and this has been no exception. Such a clean interface, easy to get started with, I'd recommend it to anyone serious about creating high quality recordings from home or any "non traditional" studio space. #sweepstakes

Great for 2 months- We'll see how Focusrite support works

I use the interface for my guitars into my computer for virtual amping, and also to record. It was working great until I connected the headphone out of a small lunchbox amp (a 6505 Piranha) to the line in on the Focusrite and the interface screeched at me, then lit up like a Christmas tree, and has stayed that way for 2 days. Reinstalls, removing power, etc, it refuses to register in Device Manager in Win 10. I'm pretty sure its toast, and I don't know why. The use case is something its already made for. Other than this incident Ive had Focusrite interfaces before and they were great, this is the first one out of three over the last 4 yrs that I've had a problem with. The others were sold/traded to others so I could upgrade to whatever the next one was. Now im at a place where I need more inputs and outputs, so I got the 8I6-up until this incident it was exactly what I needed for the size footprint that I have. The software routing is a little wonky, and Id like that it had more tactile button control rather than having to use Focusrite control for everything, but overall its a solid unit. I can't find any situations like mine on the Web, Reddit, etc, so this particular incident sounds to be pretty limited.

#sweepstakes I use this in my home studio. You need to tweak you Windows or OS system for optimized use but it does exactly what it is intended to do. Great piece of equipment.

Ione three scarlett focusrite preamp's/interfaces in three different rooms of my house. Four input, a six input, and an 18 input, model. They all work great, although the software required to run it is archaic and clumsy

Can you import audio into the interface?

      Open Reply - Ronald
You can't store anything on the interface, it works as a conduit where signal passed from and instrument/mic to the computer.
      Open Reply - Beau
This interface does not have an import feature.
