Focusrite Scarlett 4th Gen – Range Overview

Introducing Focusrite Scarlett 4th Gen - The complete range

Description
The Focusrite Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen audio interface provides an all-in-one solution for capturing and mixing high-quality audio. With its 16 inputs and 16 outputs, this versatile interface connects all your gear so you can record every element of your setup. Six analog inputs provide connectivity for outboard gear, while powerful outputs ensure ultralow distortion playback. Two headphone amps drive high-impedance headphones for mixing and overdubbing.
Class-leading Audio Quality
The Scarlett 16i16 Gen 4 features professional-grade converters for pristine 24-bit/192kHz audio. With an unparalleled 122dB of dynamic range, it captures everything from subtle nuance to the thunder of drums. The latest generation Scarlett preamps offer high headroom to capture dynamic performances without distortion. Hear your recordings in stunning detail to craft mixes with confidence.
Enhanced Air Mode
Re-engineered Air mode brings the character of a classic console to your tracks. Engaging Air mode adds musical presence and rich harmonic overtones to vocals, acoustic guitars and other instruments. Dial in the sound of a vintage console on individual tracks or your entire mix for analog warmth and dimension.
Auto Gain: Work Faster
Designed to assist engineers of all levels, Auto Gain sets the optimal recording levels for any inputs in just a few seconds, getting you ready to record in moments. For more complex setups, multi-channel Auto Gain adjusts levels for multiple microphones, either directly on the interface or through the Focusrite Control 2 mobile and desktop applications.
Top Studio Software Included
The Scarlett 16i16 Gen 4th unlocks a suite of pro studio tools for writing, recording, mixing and mastering. It includes Ableton Live Lite, three months of Splice Sounds and plugins from Antares, Softube, Native Instruments and more. You'll have everything you need to produce radio-ready tracks from start to finish.
Easy Control With Desktop and Mobile App
Use the software, Focusrite Control 2, to manage routing and levels, monitor mixes and control other features of the Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen. The desktop software, plus apps for iOS and Android, enable engineers and performers to adjust monitor mixes and multiple mic pre gains remotely—especially useful in live rooms.

The DAW that comes with this is way amateur. The plugins are LITE and the I/O's are counter intuitive and I'm still trying to figure out how they get "16" out of this. Back to more pro gear I was hoping to avoid. Lessons learned.

The product itself is great and was needed to connect my Yamaha HS8S and HS8 subwoofer and studio monitors to my computer. I told their employee, BK, that I wanted to run the HS8S subwoofer, and HS8, HS5, and HS3 studio monitor pairs all at one time. BK let me know I could accomplish this using some splitter cables, but suggested using a monitor station for versatility. He further recommended to connect the HS3s to the subwoofer since they wouldn't have a lot of bass, and run the HS5 pair and HS8 pair directly from the monitor station. The sound is great!
There was no contest. This was my only option.

I selected this unit primarily because it had two stereo headphone jacks with independent volume controls. The colored concentric VU meter was a pleasant surprise, as was the 18 I/Os (must be optical because there are only 4 physical output jacks). I don't need them...now. My least favorite surprise was that one USB-C connection was not enough to power the unit so it didn't even show up until I added one, and an AC/DC wall wart.
