I bought this bass because I remembered how much I loved my first bass, a Squire J-Bass. Later, I purchased a mint J-Bass Ultra for a great price and considered selling the Vintera. But I couldn't. The only reason you can pick one of these up for less than $1,500 is because they are MIM. But they are incredible basses. I love the sound of the pickups more than the "vintage" noiseless pickups on my Ultra. Those lows just growel and the miss pop. The neck feels every bit as awesome as other vintage basses I have played. I honestly couldn't get rid of it and now play it more than any other in my arsenal. This bass changed how I viewed MIM basses. Ensenada got it right.

This bass is amazing. I was shocked at how thin and fast the neck is. This is a great bass and I do recommend it. I only gave it it four stars because you have to remove the neck in order to adjust the truss Rod. It's supposed to be the best from that era with modern appointments. For whatever reason, bringing the truss Rod access up to modern standards was over looked. The pickups sound great. The neck is thin and fast.
Greatest Bass ever made

I switched from a P Bass to this J Bass. The sound is outstanding. You can get most sounds you want with this and it has a very very smooth and easy fret board. I switched to flat wound strings and its just amazing.

Great Bass. MIM, 7.25 radius plays like my old P bass! and I love that. but the neck is much thinner, which makes this bass a blast to play. Like the other review says, great for all genres. the Reverse open-gear tuning machines took about 3 seconds to get used to. but I actually really dig it. the Pao Ferro is beautiful. I replaced the stock Bridge for a Brass bridge. it was a direct replacement with no new holes needed. the upgraded bridge brought out the true colors of the bass with much more sustain.
a few odd things on this one..

I have been playing bass for well over 10 years. and have owned more basses then Its worth to count. my current two basses I use for every gig and recording session, they are this Jazz bass and the MIJ Precision bass, both are meant for different things. this bass has a thin neck, very pronounced fretboard radius of 7.25" and a standard bass scale length. this jazz bass is perfect for slap bass, funk, mo-town, rock etc... honestly my drummer and Guitarist don't notice a difference between the way this and my Precision bass sound. and if the audience cant tell a difference that is fine too. this bass plays like butter and is hard to pick between this and my Precision bass when it comes to studio and stage time.

Please explain the "blemish." Thank you!
Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is. However, it would only be a minor cosmetic flaw and would not effect the basses play ability.
