Vintera Series '50s Telecaster | Vintera Series | Fender

Description

For players who appreciate the mojo of the past matched to modern features, Fender created the Vintera ‘50s Telecaster Modified. Blending classic looks with a modern neck profile and fingerboard radius, hotter pickups and updated electronics—this guitar packs a surprising amount of power under the hood.

For modern Fender tone, they outfitted it with a pair of Custom Shop pickups, kicking things up a bit with a vintage-style bridge pickup and fat-sounding Twisted Tele neck pickup. Twangy and articulate, this pairing has the crisp, snarling sound that put Fender on the musical map. For modern playing feel, they added 21 medium-jumbo frets to the 9.5”-radius maple fingerboard that sits atop the Soft V-shaped neck. A vintage-style Tele bridge with three brass saddles gives this Telecaster its characteristic twang, while 4-way switching and the S-1 switch give you even more tonal variety. Series wiring makes this Tele sound fat, like a humbucking pickup, while the S-1 switch places the pickups out of phase with each other for a cool “strangled” tone. Other features include vintage-style strap buttons, chrome hardware and 4-bolt neck plate. Includes deluxe gig bag.

The thick soft V is a little chunkier than I'd like but not uncomfortably so. Closer to a 59LP than a 60's slim taper in Gibson terms. Had a problem with the first one that was a factory issue, no ground wire to bridge. Second one was perfect. The S-1 and 4 way switch add some nice additional sounds as well. The Custom Shop Twisted Tele set sounds great. The gig bag is cheap and thin.

  • Beautiful, classic, great sound.

I finally got a Tele, I had been wanting one for a while but when I tried one at my local GC store, it felt odd, it was an older one and just didn't feel right. I decided to go for the Vintera because it seemed to have a good combination of classic looks and modern features. And it had to be an Ash, butterscotch blonde. It's a beautiful guitar. The glassy surface let's you see the grain of ash wood below, the color of the neck and the pickguard, just beautiful. And it sounds amazing. But I'm honestly a bit disappointed with a few issues. The guitar had a blemish on the top face, bottom, it seems below the finish since I can't feel it; the nut had a problem, the D string was ringing out of control, and I realized the slot was too wide, I had to do the superglue-baking soda fix and then the screws on the neck were a bit stripped, one is bad enough that caught my shirt and made its mark, so I had to sand it. Not what I would expect from a $1K+ guitar; especially, compared with my American Strat which was perfect out of the box. All in all, I'm happy with it and will keep on playing it for years to come.

could this be good for classic rock like ac dc?

While just about any guitar can be used for just about any music, with the right EQ I would go with a more heavy pup. Take a look at a Strat or a Gibson. Keep in mind that the classic rock sound has a much to do with amplification as the guitar. Please give us a call to better help you out – 877-687-5403
