Description

The Fender TBX Tone Control will also work in place of any standard tone control on any guitar with passive pickups. Some American Standard Strats are equipped with this tone control to cut either treble or bass instead of the standard style that attenuates treble only. When the control is set at the centered detent, it is off. Turning the control one way cuts treble; the other way cuts bass. The TBX can be also be wired as a master treble/bass control.

There's a reason Eric Clapton has one of these as his universal tone control in his Signature Model. Well, maybe a couple reasons... but I have it in a couple telecaster's and now, as one of my tone controls in my strats as fast as I can get to them. Personally, I rarely use either tone control past 50%, so when this is wired through two of my pick ups, I can quickly fine tune and adjust the tone post-effected and amplified. The 'zero' setting (5 on the dial) has an easy to feel notch, and so I can get to plus or minus "5" or "2.5" to feather my treble eq or clean up my bass eq. It's absolutely great! (and CHEAP).

I bought this to go in a 2012 Fender Deluxe Strat HSS with mid boost and noiseless pickups, this was my first experience with both. The guitar lacked the highs that I wanted so I was hoping this would help, and it did. I installed it as the factory recommends and it opened up some highs that were not there before especially with the boost in use and it made the humbucker more usuable. I'm very satisfied with the results, Installation was not difficult, only had to remove one lead and then resolder the lead and ground wire. No problem with the depth of the route on mine, it fit fine. I don't know how this will work on guitars without the mid boost, however. I think you could experiment with the value of the caps or resister and makw it work most anywhere.
