Korean Fender FMT

I bought this guitar based on the tone of the timber ( I used my ear against teh body unplugged ), it's appearance and play ability. It's Korean made with a straight thru neck and fixed bridge, thru the body string and dual humbickers with a single coil tap on the the tone control. There way switch for neck, bridge or both and jumbo frets. Body is light, arched top with a chamfered back. Positives: Pretty guitar that is light and playable. Greatest asset is the variety of tones it can produce that suit Jazz players to hard rock soloists. Excellent solo guitar, the tones are sharp and sustain is great very good. Fits a after market Tele case perfectly. No EM noise very clean. Negatives: Jumbo frets cause strings to bend with open play and create fret buzz on the low E On delivery, neck seems to be too flat and requires a little additional setup to remove fret buzz. Strap posts are weak and require better fixings. Too twangy with cheap 9's Output plug could be better quality Finish, mother of peral inlays were glued badly, excess glue. Pots are now scratchy after 2 years and three way switch is ordinary. Overall: All the negatives are easily remedied and I am now using Elixir 10's and the twang turned to a bling with zing. I run it with a RT2100 amp, and thru Digital effect via PC in my studio. Very versatile guitar that's relatively light, some say neck is heavy but for me that's becuase the body is light. Price was right, the sound quality very nice and versatility excellent Till death do us part.

Fender Drops the ball

this guitar is a great concept by Fender, but the electronics need rethinking guys, there is no way to blend the neck pickup with the bridge pickup which limits the tone options ,as for the craftsmanship the guitar is beautiful , mine is Amber , I've already ordered the parts to do the upgrades, pots and a bumble bee cap, the Seymore Ducans work well in this guitar , I have them in a 335s also....I like em.so they will remain in the guitar,I also have a strat I did the "blender circuit mod " to ...it don't cost nothing guys, and it makes guitars sound better, Gibson has been doing it for years through the volume controls on the pickups..I wish Fender would adopt this concept

Not sure why some people are hating on this. If you're looking for the classic Tele sound and twang this is not your guitar. The moment you see the Duncan PuPs you should know this is going to be a different beast. The Fender quality control of an American made in an Indonesian made is few and far between in most cases. But this is not most cases. Out of the box this thing is awesome not perfect, but awesome. I did take it to my local tech and get a set-up done. Nut cut for larger gauge strings, lower action etc. Anyone who thinks a guitar is going to be perfect for them off the floor or out of the box is nuts since we all have our own tastes and styles. Great fast neck and comfortable as all can be. Yes the volume gets reduced when you split the coils. I've never seen a coil tap system that doesn't. Yes you can still get that classic Fender tone (not dead on but close enough) and yes you can blend the Neck and Bridge. You just have to get the tone dialed in and play with it. You want it to twang like a Tele well stick with a classic Tele. If you want a blues/rock machine with versatility and tonal options? Than this is for you.

I own a 1984 Fender Telecaster Contemporary. I looked around for a replacement but never could find anything that played like it. But this guitar is very close to mine, except I have a shorter faster neck. The nicest thing about this guitar and my Contemp is that it is three guitars in one. The front pickup selection sounds like a Les Paul and works great for blues or slow ballad work. The center selection is my Strat guitar sound for rock and hard blues work. The rear selection is all country twang. If I want to make it spicier then I use the switch to swap the wiring of the pickup for a Flying V sound. It also enhances the chicken picking sound in country tunes. This guitar does the same thing. But instead of having the 2nd switch, you just pull up on the tone knob. So I would say for those people looking for a guitar that has great voicing, this is it. I combined it with the Fender Champion 40 and it is sweet. You can go from 60's beach music to Eric Clapton '70's to BB King '80's and every country sound you ever heard with that combo. So don't buy just a Strat or a Tele or a Les Paul, get them all in this beautiful guitar.
