I bought this basically to finish off the Highway 1 I bought this year. I wasn't sure if I'd actually use it when I play but liked the look and had heard offhand that it might actually change the sound of the bridge pickup through providing additional shielding. Well, I won't be using it while I play because while it's not uncomfortable it rocks slightly when I least expect it. it seems to pivot at the point where it clamps the tailpiece. Guess that might be part of why there are more of them acting as ash trays. Hey, it looks nice when I take pictures and it hanging on the wall.

The Ashtray Bridge Cover isn't so cleanly produced (the metal on the underside of mine was scorched), and something that's Fender doesn't make evident is that this item DOES NOT fit the bridge on their American Special instruments.

It does add a nice look to the Tele, and is a nice touch, otherwise (for those Teles that it fits).

More tone

By Jack Kashtan

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Telecaster Bridge Cover:

I bought the ashtray for my new Tele Vintage Hot Rod because I've always used one on my old Strat. I was surprised to find that it very noticeably changed the tone--the already excellent tone is now more resonant and full, which I like (I'd take it off if I were going for a crisper tone.) My only complaint is that the fit is a bit loose.

Nice!

By Michael Wojack

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Telecaster Bridge Cover:

Bought this bridge cover the other day. Not for a Fender Telecaster, but for a Stagg Telecaster. I read the other reviews before I bought this and how those folks said it "rocked" a little. I'm not sure why, but on my Stagg this thing fit PERFECT! It does not rock at all, sit flush all the way around. It also sits right up next to the bottom of the pickguard. It looks like it was made for the Stagg Telecaster. It is difficult to palm mute with this thing on, but it comes off easy. I leave it on when I'm not playing. It gives it a finished look.

Perfect Touch

By Michael Kahl

from Farmington MN

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Telecaster Bridge Cover:

I ordered this for my FSR Standard Tele, I'm really into the vintage look and this is a perfect addition for just that. I read a couple of other reviews that said it rocks a little, I think it may get bent a little (very little) during shipping or something because mine also did when I first put it on, however you can easily push it back into shape. It took me a whopping ten seconds to make it level with my Tele's body. I didn't really notice a big change in tone on the bridge pickup. The only negative about it is that it makes it relatively impossible to do any palm muting, other than that great addition, quality product. I highly recommend it if you like the vintage look or shiny stuff. If you do need to do some palm muting, the cover easily slips on and off of the bridge so just pop it off between songs.

Nice cover but checked for smooth edges

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Telecaster Bridge Cover:

Firstly, I bought a telecaster that was a reissued 50's with the brass saddles and all. Seems weird that I had to buy the Bridge cover extra. Just because musicians used to take them off, I still feel my guitar should have come with a cover like in the 50's. That said, the cover is nice, but be sure to check the bottom of the cover BEFORE putting it on your guitar. I didn't and the front two sides were rough and scratched the finish on my tele. I took it off and used files to smooth it out. Also, had to squeezed the sides together for it to stay in place. I like it, I would buy again, just wished I would have checked it before it installed it for the rough edges.

Comments about Fender Replacement Vintage Telecaster Bridge Cover:

My opinion is this really makes a tele look nice and finished. Trouble is it only fits on Bridge Plates that have vertical sides, those sides are what this cover slides on to and holds in place by friction. Many Bridge Plates are made of a flat steel sheet, so there is no wall for the cover to grab on to.

Purchase a Limited Edition Vintage Hot Rod 50's Redwood Telecaster, had to complete the look with the classic Telecaster bridge plate (also known asTelecaster ashtray). Love the softer tone the plate adds to the sound
