I have a an all original 78 Telecaster and I wanted to give it a upgrade in sound. I changed out the electronics and added the Vintage 64 pickups. I love it. Classic Tele twang without being to hot which my original bridge pickup was.
i would buy these again

This is exactly what my vibe needed. Clean Bell-like chime and insanely versatile. Break up is akin to crumbs from your favorite sandwich. YUM!!
Great pickup! Big bang for your buck! Price drop??

been playing for 50 plus years and recently began buying cheap guitars and upgrading them for myself. Just looking to expand sonic capabilities without spending a ton of money. These pickups have some bite and crunch to them that I did not expect. Very pleasant surprise. Reminscent of Led Zepp early works. But they also have a very warm tone and the bridge pickup has a plucky sound when played clean. If you are a guitar player on a budget buy a quality squier and slap a set of these in it. You will not be disappointed. People will wonder how you get that amazing tone. Seriously!
Awesome pickups at a great price

I put these in a Squier bullet tele that I bought as a project guitar. What I didn't think to look at before buying is how they're mounted. The bridge PUP fit perfectly. The neck PUP on the Squier is mounted by machine screws on the pickguard while these come with wood screws. I fixed this by replacing the wood screws provided by fender with #4 1 inch long machine screws and filing the neck pup hole in the pickguard a bit to expand it. Now everything is good. Just something to watch out for... In terms of the pickups themselves: awesome. Both sound great clean. The bridge PUP has the classic tele twang to it and the neck pickup is really smooth sounding while still having the single coil 'snap'. Both have a really nice bite with overdrive and light distortion while maintaining clarity. Perfect for classic rock, blues, and country. Vintage tone with decent output. Look elsewhere for high output tele pickups if you want to play harder rock.
Great upgrade!

I was a bit worried about the raised pole pieces, but after a little adjustment my fears were put to rest, it's a non-issue for me now. Completely changed the sound and playability of my MIM telecaster. Stock pickups were good, but these add definition, grittiness, and a punchiness the guitar was lacking — no icepick tones from these. I have the Vintage 52 pickups in another telecaster, and I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite at between the two this point. After researching extensively, and now actually playing, I can say these do exactly what you would expect them to do. Awesome upgrade that transformed my lackluster telecaster into a beast!
