Fender Player Stratocaster Roasted Maple Fingerboard With Fat '50s Pickups Limited-Edition Electric Guitar Surf Green
Description
Fender's limited-edition Player Stratocaster electric guitar takes an iconic design to new heights of playability and tonal versatility. Its roasted maple neck and pau ferro fingerboard provide a smooth, fast feel with rich, warm tone. Three Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil pickups deliver the unmistakable chime and articulation of a vintage Stratocaster, with enhanced low end and midrange. A dedicated tone control for the bridge pickup lets you fine-tune treble frequencies to your liking.
Roasted Maple Neck and Pau Ferro Fingerboard for Superior Playability
The Player Stratocaster's roasted maple neck and pau ferro fingerboard make it effortless to rip off solos and transition smoothly during chord changes. Roasted maple is more dimensionally stable than standard maple, with an open-pore finish that feels silky to the touch. Its modern C-shaped profile provides comfort for all playing styles. With 22 frets, two more than a traditional Stratocaster, the Player Strat gives you access to a wider range for expressive lead work and experimentation.
Custom Shop Fat '50s Pickups for Iconic Tone
Three Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil pickups provide the unmistakable chime, clarity and articulation of a vintage Stratocaster. Custom magnets and enamel-coated wire give these pickups a warm, full tone with enhanced low end and midrange. The bridge pickup's dedicated tone control lets you dial in the precise amount of treble bite, from bright and cutting to a smoother, darker sound.
Two-Point Tremolo for Shimmering Pitch Effects
A two-point tremolo bridge allows for expressive pitch-shifting effects, from subtle shimmers to dramatic dives. Its solid-steel block and powder-coated saddles provide maximum sustain and tuning stability under intense use. The tremolo arm has a vintage-style push-in design for quick changes between songs.
Sleek Contours and Limited Finishes for Iconic Style
The Player Stratocaster's sleek double-cutaway alder body provides comfort and balance. A gloss polyester finish highlights the woodgrain and comes in limited, vintage-inspired colors like Surf Green and Fiesta Red. Other features include a synthetic bone nut, vintage-style tuners and strap locks for security on stage.

Really good MIM strat
I have to admit what drew me to this strat was the color, it looks really old school. The second draw was the roasted maple neck, in my opinion this is one of the best looking necks you could match with a strat body and it goes perfect with the Torino red. The medium jumbo frets felt perfect to me and were finished off perfectly, level with no sharp edges. The final seal to the deal was the Fat 50 pups. Now this instrument definately needed a complete set up... neck relief, pickup height, string height and intonation. The nut seemed fine. So if you get one don't be dismayed with all the string buzz , I got rid of it completely. Now this is every bit as good as my American made standard strat. The pickups sound the best run through one of my warmer sounding fender amps especially the Twin Reverb. It did not sound as good through a Blues Jr. but a good EQ pedal may improve it. I don't believe it is worth paying $700 more for an American made one, the hardware on these are on a par and they basically are made with the exact same machinery and probably by alot of the same workers. If you really need an American I would find a good used Standard or go Custom Shop. But if you are on the fence on this one I would buy it, like I said with a little effort you can make it a great player. I had plenty of cases so not coming with a gig bag was fine with me.

Great guitar, but awful quality control.
I got the first one about 5 days after ordered. It had some cosmetic issues, a dent in the headstock and a small crack in the pickguard. I decided to return it to the Orlando store and accept overnight shipping on a replacement guitar. That one arrived a couple days later, just a day before my trip abroad. I just had the time to do a quick inspection and I found no cosmetic flaws. But when I finally got a chance to play it, I found it had all kind of quality issues. It was strung with two identical 0.16 G strings for the 3rd AND 4th! The volume pot is faulty: you get full sound when roll off instead of silence, and a on/off sound all the way to 9. Only when maxed you get regular sound. It has a small crack in the body near the neck join, and the nut is cheap plastic and awfully cut (unlike the first one which was top notch). I was offer yet another replacement, but it is not valid outside the US. Also, they ran out of the color I ordered.

Fantastic Fender Player Strat

I ended up pulling the trigger on a blemished open box strat in black and was dlighted to find that there were no marks at all really. Plays fantastic and the price for the open box was really good considering the custom shop pickups! It plays great, might need a setup to be perfect.

I cannot overstate how amazing this guitar is for the price, I always hated the standard player Strats because of how the neck felt, this guitar feels like it should be closer to 2k, it is very resonant, has amazing fretwork, and look incredible. Another big pro is how well it stays in tune with heavy use of the whammy bar, after long jam sessions abusing the trem it stays perfectly in tune, if you have the funds, buy this guitar, you won't get anything better for this price, especially for a fender. the fat 50's pickups also scream.

I ordered one with the black finish because I wasn't a fan of the other two. When it arrived I was disappointed to see that it has a Pao Ferro fingerboard instead of maple. The description on all three says it has a roasted maple neck AND fingerboard. I was very disappointed
