Love this bass, sounds, plays and looks great!
I hadn't played in years and once my son started playing guitar I figured, I would love to start playing again. Picked up the new Fender MIM Player series bass, the new neck design feels great, a P bass with a jazz neck style. Great sound , can manipulate it a lot with a couple pedals and my amp, after years of playing old HC punk and metal with old Peavey basses, this is a major step up. Had the strings replaced with some nice rotos and a proper set up to lift the action a bit, adjust the pick ups and remove some mild fret buzz. Now, it's playing as good as I could ask for, especially for under $700. I know of several friends who have been steady playing gigs with the MIM Fender basses and guitars, all have had nothing but great things to say about them, and if stolen or damaged you aren't out of a $1500 instrument.

Quality is not there
I was really looking forward to Getting a nice p bass for years with pro coverage I spent 700 something dollars on this bass and I am very unimpressed by the quality. The edge of the frets are really sharp, it has been set up twice and the action doesn't feel right still. This is my second one with in two years of getting this bass. The first one I had owned had a stripped out trust rod very unimpressed.

I'm a fretless P Bass man, myself. 60% of my collection are P Basses. I tried out all 5 series of Fenders PB's, but I kept going back to the Player Bass. Low frets, quick action, comfortable neck. I do a lot of sliding in my fretless playing. These frets did not rip up my finger tips I'm usually a maple neck guy, but I was totally surprised at the warm, pure classic P Bass tone and the incredible sustain for a Pau Ferro fretboard. Set up was pretty decent, but I had my favorite luthier to give it just a touch more love and boom baby! I gots myself a great bass. Buy it Play it Love it You won't be disappointed.

Most standard bass in the market. First ever made and continuing improvement to its original shape and traditional sound. You cannot go wrong with it.

I was fortunate enough to buy this before the latest manufacturer price increase so I got what I think is excellent value for the money. Personally, I believe that all music equipment prices are out-of-control and hope that at some point in time will stabilize. All this said, it is a fantastic bass guitar. It is, after all, a Fender Precision. Everything feels solid and well-made. The pickups are very hot and will cut through the excessive noise your drummer is making. The three-color Sunburst is beautiful. The Pau Ferro is just OK. It's not bad, but it's not Rosewood. On the Fender I have the Pau Ferro shows very reddish-brown. If you're looking for a Genuine Fender Precision, the Player line is a very solid choice, especially if you do not want to spend $1300 on one. But make sure you pick one up soon before Fender raises their pricing again.
