Exploring the Player Plus Bass Models | Fender

Description

The Fender Player Plus Precision Bass offers pro performance without the pro price. Borrowing features from Fender's higher-end lines, this bass is a four-string powerhouse for beginners, gigging musicians and anyone on their way up. With Noiseless pickups and a 3-band active EQ, a full range of solid sounds are there waiting to be discovered. Available now at Guitar Center, the Player Plus P Bass is suitable for all genres from funk to punk, jazz to rock, country, metal and more.

Fender Player Plus Precision Bass Main Features

  • Alder body
  • Maple neck with Modern C profile, pau ferro fingerboard with 12" radius
  • Gen 4 Noiseless Jazz Bass single coil (bridge), split-coil hum-cancelling P-Bass (neck), 3-band active/passive EQ
  • HiMass bridge with chrome-plated zinc saddles, standard open-gear tuners

Classic Design

It's hard to overestimate the impact of the Precision Bass when it was introduced in 1951. Until that time, maintaining the low end in a band required a large acoustic bass. Fender bragged that the P Bass was "one-sixth the size," and styled "similar to the Fender 'Telecaster' Spanish guitar." Decades later, the design is still classic. The Player Plus shares that same silhouette with its gloss-finished alder body.

Noiseless Pickups, Active Electronics

Players like Motown's James Jamerson, the Wrecking Crew's Carole Kaye and Foo Fighter's Nate Mendel have all been drawn to the P Bass sound–warm and punchy, with a deep fundamental tone. You'll get all of that and more on the Player Plus Precision Bass, but one thing you won't get is interference. It's spec'd with Gen 4 Noiseless pickups. The bridge holds a Jazz single coil; the neck a Precision. A 3-band EQ provides precise sonic sculpting with switchable active/passive operation for flexibility.

A Neck That Stands Out

The neck on the Player Plus Precision Bass deserves special recognition. It has a Modern C-shape or "flattened oval" profile that's more ergonomic than others. While a vintage P Bass has a 9.5" fretboard radius, here it's 12" for quicker, more comfortable play. Rolled fingerboard edges contribute to that feel.

Hardware That Gets You There

Pluck a string on this P Bass and you'll feel it in your body. Credit the Fender HiMass bridge. Made with steel and weighing more than a half pound, the HiMass sustains like nobody's business. Dial in precise intonation with the chrome-plated zinc saddles. Used in conjunction with Fender's time-tested tuners, you'll be able to sound tight all night long.

The Fender Player Plus Precision Bass comes with a deluxe gig bag.

I play all kinds of music. From Black Sabbath to Church every Sunday!! The Fender PJ covers is all!! An added bonus is the Active/Passive noiseless pickups! This bass looks and sounds amazing!! I've owed many basses in my 30+ years of playing and Fender knocked this one out of the park!!!
