Description

The Fender Player Mustang PJ Bass is a redesign of the iconic 1964 model. This 30" short-scale bass blends traditional styling with modern features, appealing to musicians of all skill levels. The punchy split single-coil P Bass middle pickup combines with the growling J Bass bridge pickup for flexible tone that suits any genre. The reduced scale length and string tension create a loose, nimble feel, while imparting a warm, full sound to every note. Topped by a 9.5"radius pau ferro fingerboard with 19 medium jumbo frets, the C-shaped maple neck offers comfort for any playing style.

A Compact Body For Easy Playability

The Mustang PJ's smaller body provides an ideal fit for players of smaller stature, while maintaining Fender's iconic style. Its lightweight build also makes this bass ideal for energetic on-stage performances. Fender's craftsmanship is evident in details like the vintage-style tuners, string tree, four-bolt neck plate and four-saddle bridge—all finished in gleaming chrome.

Flexible Tonal Options For Any Musical Style

The PJ pickup configuration generates a range of tones suitable for any genre. The bridge pickup delivers a punchy, articulate sound with rich harmonics, while the middle pickup produces a warmer, more neutral tone. Blend the pickups to create your own signature sound. A three-way toggle switch and master volume and tone controls provide even more tonal customization.

Player-Focused Features At An Affordable Price

The Player Series Mustang PJ Bass combines professional-grade features with an wallet-friendly price point. The alder body and maple neck are built to exacting standards, providing a solid foundation for the instrument's tone and playability. High quality hardware and electronics are designed to withstand the demands of frequent use and touring. An optional gig bag is also available to protect your investment during transport and storage.

A Modern Take On A Beloved Classic

Fender's Player Series Mustang PJ Bass pays homage to an iconic model while incorporating contemporary enhancements for today's bassist. Its familiar design and compact form factor provide a seamless transition for new players, yet its professional-level build and electronics satisfy even the most discerning veteran musicians.

I play in a worship band with a borrowed bass guitar - not an easy one to play but good enough to make me want my own. The local Guitar Center was able to get this short scale bass fairly quickly and had a 45 day satisfaction guarantee. It's so much fun to play! #sweepstakes.

I use this bass to play worship music primarily. The neck is wonderful in my opinion and the tone is excellent. The original pickups were good but I elected to change them out for EMG's. (A personal preference)

Great bass for a beginner, not the most expensive but not a cheap instrument either. Unfortunately, the 3-position toggle switch (to select pickups) produced buzzes and intermittent connections. They should have used a real fender quality switch (not a knockoff) and I'm not sure I liked the toggle anyway, but there weren't other options and took the bad with all the good. Suggest Fender changing it to a rotary-style knob. Overall, as a beginner .. I love this bass and the sounds it produces ... the Mustang size is cool and my granddaughters love it.

Use it for recording and gigging. Small scale makes it easy for a guitar player to make his way round the bass neck easily!

  • Fun Bass for the Price!

Great bass for the price. Fun to play. Classic Mustang design. Surprisingly full sound for a short scale. The fretboard was bone dry out of the box, so I took the strings off and used some finishing oil on it, and now it glides. Worth it if you're looking for cool practice bass or something to use to jam with friends. I'd recommend it, but I'm no pro. Just a dude who likes to groove on the weekends.

    What does this bass weigh?

    Open Reply - Thomas
All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 7.5 - 8.5 lbs
