Been playing Bass Guitar since I was 16. I'm now 65 and just recently bought my first Real Fender Jazz. I have owned a lot of Basses in my lifetime. Wish I had took the Plunge years ago, and spent the money on the Original. The workmanship, the Sound, the feel of this Bass is 5 stars

I bought this because of it's versatility and feel. A pickup was bad and I had to return the bass. Take two, having some fret issues on the replacement bass. Probably worth going one step up in the product line.

  • A classic

These are classic for a reason. From the feel to the tone, this bass can almost do it all. There may only be three knobs, but you have great control over the tone. With everything turned up, you get a great, almost scooped sound perfect for slap. With the bridge pickup and tone rolled back a little, you can even get a good P bass sound going. The neck is fantastic, the pau ferro looks and feels great, and everything looks classy.

This is the nicest guitar I've owned out of 10 or so (mostly basses). That said, it's also the most I've spent on a guitar. Because of this, I took the full 40 day return policy window to decide if this was really gonna be The One. A month and a half later I was convinced that this beautiful instrument was right for me. To me this signified that it was time to take the pick guard off. What I found underneath truly depressed me. Beneath the pick guard lays ugly, unessecary cut outs in the body. One unfortunately large cut out around the neck pick up that extends towards the pots (housing wires), and one random circle cut out with a product number(?) or something written inside it. It seems like a small thing, but it makes me so sad. I figure most people attracted to the Jazz bass are playing with fingers. We don't need pick gaurds. I think the pick guard looks nice, but I so badly just want to see more of that sexy natural wood sunburnt finish. My first bass was a Squire J bass. 10 years ago I took that pick guard off and everything was smooth and the neck pick up cut out was just as tight as the bridge. Can't see why the Mexico made version isn't the same. I'm cool with keeping the cover that surrounds the pots and jack, but man, I know it's not a fretless, but please just let me look like Jaco. I would advise fender to eliminate these ugly cut outs on future versions of the player series jazz bass and send me one for alerting them to the seriousness of this offense. Thank you. Peace. P.S. Kids, you will be so much cooler if you play bass without a pick guard, cuz pick guards are lame. The end.

  • Great product for experienced players, worth the money.

I use this product for live play/gigs and record. Beautiful raw sounds from the pickups and natural feel all around the neck. Overall a great bass at a great value.

Does the pickguard on the red bass extend into the knobs? The other colors have a chrome plate where the knobs are.
