Player Duo-Sonic and Duo-Sonic HS | Player Series | Fender

The Player Series | Fender

Description
The Fender® Player Duo Sonic guitar continues a tradition that began in 1956. First introduced as a student-level guitar, the Duo-Sonic soon found its way into the hands of genre-defining artists. From influential ’60s blues guitarists, to art rockers who created alternative music in the dingy clubs of New York City, the Duo-Sonic has become a reliable mainstay.
The Fender® Player Duo Sonic is a surprisingly hip guitar with upgraded contemporary features. The alder body has a maple neck, with a comfortable C-shaped profile. The maple fretboard has a 24" scale length— perfect for smaller hands, or string it heavier and still enjoy bending ease. Dual Fender® single coils have classic clean tones that can be dialed up to a growl. The Fender® Player Duo Sonic features a slick style and a unique sound that’s perfectly at home in modern music.

I was very excited about receiving this item, but was i very disappointed when i recieved it. The volume knob didn't work, turn it all the way down and it just sounded like i was hearing it from down the hallway. The selector switch in middle position caused static. Very disappointed
Good little simple guitar

I bought this used for almost half the price and it was in pretty great shape except that a pickup had fallen in. I opened the pickguard and found the spring stuck to the magnet of the pickup. Guess somebody had messed with it and missed the spring when reassembling. The toggle switch sounded like it was going out and felt cheap so I bought a new one for $10. The desert sand color looks great. I like that the guitar is so light. The pickups sound good but I may end up modding it in the future. I have several other guitars but currently find myself reaching for this one almost exclusively. The simple controls are nice. One of my favorite features is the satin finish neck. I'm kind of a particular about that. Don't know why you can't get a Fender or Squier with classic controls that also has a satin neck. i.e. classic vibe/vintera

A lot of potential here. Guitar came in setup well, beautiful desert sand and sounding great. It's unfortunate that only a year later their are so many electronics issues with it. Any potential buyer should read up on the well known toggle switch problems this model is prone to. As well as experiencing the aforementioned issue, the rest of the electronics on mine are failing a year in. The once surprisingly beautiful sounding pickups on this guitar have become anemic and noisy. I understand we can't expect perfection. Out of the box I was thrilled with the guitar at this price point, however having to gut the electronics out of this guitar less than a year later is not ideal. I think most of us have seen some squire's electronics hold up longer. In conclusion, you're getting a wonderful guitar for the price point, but be prepared to invest in maintenance early. Personally, there aren't any local shops around that specialize in this sort of thing in my area. Outside of the cost factor, the time factor is something to consider if you find yourself in a similar situation. The positive I can take out of this is that after it's serviced, I'm motivated to purchase a soldering iron and learn a new skill! 3/5
My go-to guitar

This is my favorite guitar. It's great! I'm a smaller person so I'm very particular when it comes to the feel of the instrument. Enter the Duo-Sonic. It is a small-scale guitar and fits me like a guitar should. It's almost always the one I reach for. it's been so comfortable to play. It's lightweight, the neck feels amazing, and it sounds beautiful. Played clean, the Duo-Sonic has a bright sound. I have the model with two single coil pickups (tidepool color). I'm glad Fender re-issued this. I'm even happier I bought it.
