Upgraded Tonewoods, Fit and Finish
Fender picked mahogany for this Tele body. With a warm and even mid-range, it complements the sonic slate of the humbuckers. Just like vintage Fenders, the Troublemaker Tele Deluxe is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer, which allows the wood to breathe.Troublemaker Tele Neck Construction
This Troublemaker’s neck is mahogany, and it’s no baseball bat: the profile is a modern-C. The maple fretboard has a standard 25.5" scale length and 22 medium-jumbo frets with black block inlays.Custom Electronics
The Troublemaker Tele Deluxe is capable of both humbucker and single-coil tones, courtesy of Tim Shaw’s pickups. This Double Tap features is activated with the Push-Push volume controls, which splits the bridge and neck pickups respectively. Instead of a standard blade switch, it uses a 3-way toggle on the upper bout. Dual volume and tone controls have black “witch hat” knobs.Hardware That’s Rare for a Fender
A stopbar tailpiece anchors the strings firmly into the Troublemaker’s body before it passes over the Adjusto-Matic bridge. All hardware, including the vintage-style tuners, are in gold. The Fender Parallel Universe Vol. II Troublemaker Tele Deluxe includes a certificate of authenticity and a Surf Green deluxe hardshell case.

My first impression upon discovering this guitar was that Fender FINALLY learned how to make a real guitar!!! It's absolutely beautiful: the white with gold hardware is perfect (like a Fender Les Paul Custom, as previously mentioned), the HH with individual volume & tone for each pup is the way to go, & mahogany body & neck with and ebony fretboard…yes, please. And then I held it…the neck is far too thin - I would've much preferred a 50's C baseball bat neck. The Strat headstock is ugly - why wouldn't you go with a Tele headstock?!? And the pickups are as tinny, dull, and unplayable as Shaw HBs have always been. If you're gonna build a REAL guitar then make it a REAL guitar! This thing needed tons of work: extensive fretwork along the entire neck; Graphtech bridge, tailpiece, nut, & tuners; Seymour Duncan pickups; all the electric components switched out for ones that DIDN'T sound like they were assembled in a dirty basement; &, of course, a decent set of strings. After all that (over $1,000 put into an already outrageously overpriced guitar) I'm still not sure what to do about the neck. Maybe if you have dainty miniature hands you'll love it. My bottom line: Fender still doesn't know how to build a proper guitar. The only way I'd recommend this to a friend is if money wasn't an object for them. Oh, & if they had dainty miniature hands.

OK-am I going to be the only one here to point out the obvious? It's a Fender Les Paul Custom... very cool.

The picture is different from the description. The pic shows an ebony fretboard but the description says it a maple fretboard. Personally, I want the ebony fretboard. Which one is accurate?
Fender confirms ebony. Thank you for pointing that out. I will pass it on to our web teamsubmitted6 years ago

Under specs and features it says it has a maple fretboard. The fretboard is very dark almost black and appears to be ebony or perhaps dyed rosewood. Can you confirm what material the fretboard is made from?
That's a typo. It's supposed to say Ebony. I'll get this updated online.
