nice bass
Nice, beautiful, light bass. Had it two days. Plays nice. Sounds good. The issue is with intonation. The guy at guitar center set intonation while i was at guitar center buying it. When i got home and plugged it in, the intonation was all messed up. So I set the intonation to same note on open and 12th fret. All the notes in between were all over the place on the tuner. Now the intonation I set on the e string is out again. I found a thread on someone who had this exact issue. Changing the strings fixed it. I have ordered a set of short scale chromes for it. The strings on this bass are no good. Tuners seem a bit touchy. But That might be the strings and innotation causing that. If I did not love the looks on this bass, I would have took it back. Instead I tried to figure out the problem which has to be the strings. I would reccomend buying the bass and a new set of strings with it. I could not find short scale strings at a store and had to order online.

Item definitely not checked before shipping to store...
Once again, Guitar Center sent an item that was unservicable. Although, I believe this was shipped from Fender in this condition.

Very nice guitar, Ebony fretboard makes this bass buyable. I was able to get one right outta the box (my preference). Pretty good shape from the factory, only needed minimal set-up, so good on Fender - a little fret edge touch-up & polish off fretboard was all it needed. The fretboard thickness on mine varies along the neck, being thinner @ 12th fret and thicker @ 1st - it sorta arcs. This doesn't seem to be an issue, neck is straight, solid but slim - very comfortable to play. I really like the sound/tone - sounds long scale, yet VERY punchy - sounds different than my other basses with same pickups so that's interesting. I chose to change bridge & strings straightaway, but stock bridge works ok - just my preference. Having fun annoying neighbors w/ Siouxsie&TB repertoire. Its a really fun bass to play + sounds awesome LOUD - studio quality instrument for econo price. Plus its the right color.

I had to do some adjustment to the intonation, lowered string height a hair, and it plays like a dream. Has no rough edges, feels well put together, looks beautiful. It's nice and light- I have 6-string guitars that are heavier. It came with flat-wound strings, which I never tried previously. I don't know if that is standard or not, but I like the feel and sound. I have zero complaints.

This is a great Bass. HOWEVER, be prepared to put some work on the neck. Fret ends, serious cleaning. Mine came with a ton of black fret polishing compound left on the neck from the factory. After cleaning and oiling the neck, dressing the fret ends and new strings it's ready for show time. The pickups and electrics are solid, no hum or noise, very quiet. Great range of tone. Been playing it for four months. It is a beautiful instrument. I am a fan of ebony fingerboards. Just like the ones on most standing Basses. That's what sold me.
