Fender

collapse expand iconDescription

The Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar is a meticulously crafted recreation of Kurt Cobain's legendary left-handed 1965 Jaguar. This iconic guitar fueled the raw, gritty sound that defined the grunge movement and a generation. Now available in right- and left-handed versions, guitarists everywhere can unleash the same snarling tone that shaped rock music history.

Custom Pickups Provide Legendary Tone

The Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar is loaded with custom DiMarzio pickups—a DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary in the neck and a DP100 Super Distortion in the bridge—for powerful, versatile sound. The PAF delivers warm, balanced tone with smooth highs, while the Super Distortion serves up aggressive midrange and crunchy distortion perfect for grunge and hard rock.

Unique Controls Offer Total Sound Customization

Famously modified by Cobain himself, this Jaguar features unconventional controls for shaping your sound. Two volume knobs—one for each pickup—and a master tone knob give you complete control over your tone. A three-position toggle switch selects neck pickup only, bridge pickup only or both pickups together. Combined with the Adjusto-Matic bridge, these controls provide a high degree of tonal flexibility uncommon in most guitars.

Iconic Style and Playability

This Jaguar turns heads with its iconic design and premium components. It has an alder body with an NOS (New Old Stock) lacquer finish, a bound rosewood fretboard and a Stratocaster headstock. Gotoh tuners provide rock-solid tuning stability. Its C-shaped neck and 9.5" fretboard radius feel instantly comfortable to play. Overall, this guitar delivers exceptional style, tone and playability for guitarists seeking a premium instrument with a story as unique as its sound.

Premium Accessories Included

The Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar comes with a custom black textured vinyl hardshell case for protection and portability. It also includes an exclusive book detailing the guitar's history, with photos from Nirvana's early era and an interview with their guitar tech. These premium accessories complete the package, allowing you to appreciate the influential role this guitar played in music history.

Beautiful guitar with solid sound

Absolutely stunning guitar with a high quality feel and terrific sound. We actually bought this as a birthday gift for our nine year old. He started with a fender squire mini, and advanced beyond that and loved the feel and sound of this axe. It's a bit heavy, especially for a kid, but it's so great looking it's hard to put down.

Not as good as it could have been

Guitar case was damaged in shipping. Guitar itself had tons of scratches on the back side because they shipped the book in a big plastic bag that the guitar sat on/slid on throughout shipping.

24" scale, great. Controls are a little complicated. Fender 250's are a little too bright. I'd prefer Fender 150's, or even chromes. It's a guitar that can be used for any type of music. It just looks great. The set up was perfect, the neck is straight, and feels very comfortable. Worth every penny.

This guitar isn't just for Nirvana fanboys, it's one of the most versatile Jaguars on the market and most versatile guitar I own. Kurt originally had the switch below the 3 way toggle disabled but I added it back for a coil split mod making it even more versatile. I've had my eye on this guitar for years (and I'm not even a big nirvana fan) but it was always backordered. I managed to get an open box and oh boy am I happy. I have 7 american made guitars, and this is still my go to for gigs, jamming and practicing. Jaguars always looked so cool to me but I'm a humbucker guy and I love the mods it has, 3 way toggle, extra volume knob etc. The dimarzio super distortion is flawless, not muddy at all even at full gain. I won't ramble forever about this. But if even if you're not a Kurt fan, this is an amazing guitar for any playing type. Don't hesitate if you can grab one.

This is a really good guitar! As for re-produce the Nirvana sound? You will need additional pedals such as the BOSS DS-2, EHX Small Clone, EHX Big M*ff, and a reverb. Overall, I really enjoy playing this guitar!

  • Thought the sound would be like nirvana but it's too mellow

Really disappointed in the sound. My mim strat sounds better and is half the price. Very muted and mellow sounding, not at all like nirvana. Wanted to return but I scratched the pick guard.

Kurt Cobain Jaguar: Is it made in the USA? Can you split the coils on the humbuckers? Does it come with a tremolo bar and hard-shell case? I'm interested in American made Fender Jaguars.

This is made in Mexico. The pickups don't split coils, it comes with the tremolo. It does come with the case.
