Description
The Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster electric guitar is a modern rock icon. Designed in collaboration with Slipknot and Stone Sour guitarist Jim Root, this signature model combines the classic Tele shape with active EMG pickups for a versatile tone suited to any playing style. The mahogany body and maple neck provide a balanced sound with articulated mids, warm lows and shimmering highs. This custom Telecaster is built to Jim Root's exacting standards and ready to take your playing to the next level.
EMG Active Pickups Provide Powerful Tone
The Jim Root Telecaster is equipped with EMG active pickups that offer high output, low noise and a wide range of tones from pristine cleans to heavy distortion. Adjust the volume and tone to dial in the perfect sound for shredding leads, chunky rhythms or anything in between. The active electronics also provide more headroom and definition compared to passive pickups for a clear, punchy tone that cuts through the mix.
Flat Black Finish and Black Hardware For a Modern Aesthetic
The Jim Root Telecaster features a flat white finish with black pickguard and hardware for an edgy, contemporary look. The matte white finish prevents unwanted glare under bright stage lights while the black tuners, bridge and control knobs reinforce the cool, custom appearance. Combined with the mahogany body, the dark finish gives this signature model a distinctive style suited to Jim Root's heavy playing.
String-Through-Body Bridge For Enhanced Sustain
The hardtail bridge routes strings through the body for improved sustain and resonance. The six individual saddles also allow for precise intonation adjustments to ensure chords ring true all along the 25.5" scale length. Combined with the solid mahogany body, the string-through-body bridge helps produce a bold, resonant tone with rich harmonics and long sustain.
Modern C-Shaped Neck Profile
This signature Telecaster features a fast-playing maple neck with a modern C-shaped profile. The smooth, rounded shape provides comfort for rhythm and lead playing alike. A 12" radius fretboard also facilitates smooth note bending and low-action playing. Jumbo frets make it easy to articulate notes and bend strings.

Frets were super sharp and it needed a lot of adjustment on the neck.

Great for any kind of metal music and really good for deep bluesy stuff on a clean tone. Mixing this with an Electro-Harmonix HotWax pedal gives the best metallica tone and dropped down with a pitch shifter makes some dead on Slipknot/deftones tones. Overall a very versatile guitar and great for anything you're trying to do.

I use my Tele for recording and jamming, however, I'm considering it for my next open-mic-road-trip. The neck feels great, weight is excellent, fret board is smooth, jumbo frets are my favorite, and the lack of a tone knob really didn't effect me at all! Rolling back on the volume gives me plenty of control over my tone. Due to the active pickups, "clean tones" still have crunch to them. Personally, I love this! And again, rolling back on the volume cleans up great. I expect, however, that none of us Jim Root fans are hoping for a sparkly guitar here. That being said, turning the volume know still sounds great unlike other active pickups I've used which sound kinda choppy as you roll off the volume. If [you] like crunchy blues tones, or anything rock, or just about anything (slightly overdriven) I encourage you to give this guitar a try!
