HM Strat Tonewoods, Fit and Finish
Fender chose basswood for the body, a wood that is readily available in Japan, where the new HM Strat is made. Basswood is warm, resonant and lightweight with a balanced tone. Finished in gloss urethane, the Fender HM Strat looks like it came straight off the assembly line in 1988.HM Strat Neck Construction
The maple neck has a thin C-shape with a satin finish for speed. The rosewood fretboard has a 17" radius—flatter than most Strats—which makes it easy to maintain a lower playing action. The HM Stat sports a unique 25.1" scale length—this shorter scale equals less tension, so it will take less effort to fret and bend strings over the jumbo frets. Perhaps the most distinctive aspect of the HM is the single-word "Strat" logo on the black headstock. Like it or love it—there's no in between for players who wield this guitar.HM Strat Electronics
Fender put in the time to make sure the HM pickups matched up to the originals. The HM has an HSS pickup configuration, with a high-gain humbucker in the bridge and two single-coils in the middle and neck positions. The humbucker has a coil-split for tonal variation. The single coils maintain the classic Stratocaster sound, but are overwound for a louder, more in-your-face output.HM Strat Hardware
The HM ditches the standard 6-screw Strat tremolo bridge for a Floyd Rose Special. With the Floyd Rose, the strings lock at the nut and the bridge for rock-solid tuning, even for the wildest whammy bar enthusiast. The Deluxe Gotoh cast/sealed tuners are black, matching the rest of the HM’s hardware. The Fender Limited-Edition HM Strat comes with a deluxe gig bag.

I can admit that I'm a child of the 80s, and that I do own a denim jacket, but my mullet fell out a long time ago. This is a fun guitar to play. The quality is great. It sounds really nice. It's comfortable. I really like it a great deal! Go ahead and pretend it's 1988 again, and learn some hair metal songs, and dive bomb to your hearts content.
Reminds me of an Ibanez RG

If you blindfolded me and handed me this guitar, I would have guessed that I was playing one of my six Ibanez RG model shred guitars. And that's a big compliment coming from a long-time player and fan of Ibanez axes. I got it in Ice Blue and it's absolutely beautiful. The HM Strat actually feels a little bit lighter than my RGs. The neck is smooth, thin, flat, and plays very fast. The frets are smooth and you don't feel them at all when you slide your hand up and down the neck. The FR Special trem feels a lot like the better trem systems from Ibanez, and the strings stay in tune. The bridge humbucker sounds very good and doesn't get too muddy on high gain amp settings, although I'll probably swap it out for a DiMarzio Evo2 or Tone Zone in the future. Likewise I'll also swap out the single coil pups for rails/minihumbucker style pups since I have no use for single coil pups when playing metal. The build quality of this axe is fantastic and I have no complaints. Overall this is an awesome guitar for shredding, and if you upgrade the pickups like I mentioned you'll have a "true" heavy metal guitar. I haven't been able to put it down since I bought it a month ago and my Ibanez RGs are actually starting to gather a little dust lol. This HM Strat is so awesome that now I'm thinking of getting the pink one.
Excellent Guitar

I recently bought the limited edition reissue HM Strat from Guitar Center, and I can already say that this is a great playing, sounding, and looking instrument from Fender Japan. All three pickups sound excellent, and the single coil toggle on the humbucker is great. It is a very versatile guitar as the pickup switching options offer a lot of tonal variety. When considering this guitar, I was almost scared off by the Floyd Rose special, but fear not, it's a pretty good bridge and hasn't given me any problems with tuning or responsiveness. The Gotoh tuners are solid, and make the typical hassle of tuning a locking tremolo pretty easy. The guitar looks amazing and is extremely comfortable to play. The body shape makes it very easy to reach those high frets and the guitar came set up with perfect intonation. I also think this was a pretty good deal on a Japanese Fender instrument, as made in Japan Charvels and Jacksons are going for a lot of money right now. Overall, 5 Stars.
2020 Fender HM strat is great

I do have two complaints about this guitar. Everything from the bridge and the neck seems crunched together I think they needed to add more room, but maybe this is how they get some of the great tones from the guitar. The second is that the volume nob is in the way I hit it all the time or I have to play really close to the neck. I can fit it this issue of my turning the nob by putting foam under it so it does not turn so easy. But the nib will still be in the way. Other then these 2 things I love this guitar. I was worried about the Flyod Rose Special but it has been fine so far not going out of tune or anything. But I will upgrade later just my preference. The neck is flat and plays really fast. The frets are great and mine was done really will no sharpness ends at all. The electronics seem really good no issues so far. All in all a great filling, great sounding and fun to play guitar.
