Great Features, Great Bass

If you can get past that it's neither a "real" Jazz style bass or a Stingray, you'll love this bass. The neck is full like a Stingray, but up the compound radius gives it advanced playability. The array of tones that are possible for this bass is impressive - the Aguilar preamp offers a wide sweep on both tone controls. But it won't do the typical Fender Jazz bridge pickup Jaco thing. The body styling is subtly different than a typical Jazz, but work well with the minimalist design aesthetic, which is beautiful, especially on the Inca Silver version. The satin finish is gorgeous. Overall, great bass, with features not found on other Fender bass models, regardless of it being an artist signature model.
Great Bass! Made in Corona Custom Shop!

I was surprised that this bass was made at the Custom Shop in Corona, CA.That's a plus! I got the Silver one and it's a satin finish. The only bad thing is that one of the knobs fell off when I took it out of the case for the first time. That's why I gave it 4 stars not 5. The bass sounds great! Big sound and with the Aguilar OBP-1, it just make this bass sing! Nice well built case is included.

The specs above say the pickups are passive. If the preamp dies and needs a charge, can you play the bass without the preamp charged.
No. It will not work without the preamp having power.submitted6 years ago

How long does the battery last without degradation in the sound. How long does it take to charge. Thanks
The life span of the battery would depend on how much and for how long the bass is played for. It should only take about 2 hours to charge the battery.submitted6 years ago

Thanks for that response, but I wasn't asking about the difference in function between a compressor and a boost pedal. I was asking about the technology of the flea bass and its pre amp and how it interacts with those types of pedals. I have never used an active bass and wondering what's the point of using a bass with a pre amp. Thanks again.
A bass with a preamp would help to amplify your bass signal, making a boost pedal unnecessary. However, a compressor would be paired well with this bass.submitted6 years ago

If a bass player uses a compressor and or a booster pedal in bass playing, is this type of pre amp setup just redundant or is it a compliment to the use of pedals. Thanks.
It is not redundant - even though a compressor may make your louder, it has a completely differnet function than a boost pedal.
