Chris Shiflett Fender Telecaster Deluxe | Fender

Description

Chris Shiflett has his feet firmly planted in two worlds--with impeccable punk/hard rock credentials as longtime guitarist in the Foo Fighters, and with an authentic love for country, as heard in side project Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants. His abiding love for Telecasters and for huge humbucking sound now comes together in one powerful new instrument with his name on it-the Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe.

Eminently affordable and modeled closely on Shiflett's favorite '72 Tele Deluxe, it features a roaring pair of new custom-designed high-output humbucking pickups, a 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard for easy bends with low action, custom-stenciled hard-shell case, and Shiflett's signature on the headstock. Tour bus, platinum records and the adulation of millions not included.

Very nice pickups, full yet clear, and somewhat hot. Overall, it sounds and feels really nice, especially for the price. I'm consistently impressed with MIM Fenders.

I think this is a really quirky axe, but it's exactly what I was looking for. It looks like a Tele from a distance...but the headstock is from a Strat, as is the very comfortable cutaway. Really like the tone of the rosewood fingerboard and the dual humbuckers - not a lot of tele twang, but it has a distinctive sound of its own. Nice not to have to fuss with 3 saddle bridges, and the dual vol/tone controls make switching from rhythm to solo fast and precise. Very flexible, high quality instrument. Intonation is solid, I love the neck profile and radius, colours are cool. Only con: I have resorted to gaffer's tape to cover up the giant autograph on the case - no dis to Mr Shifflet, it just looks stupid.

This was my first electric guitar and is proving to be a great way to increase my skills and abilities. Haven't had it for very long yet but I intend to get a lot of use out of it. The Guitar Center protection plan provides peace of mind in case anything happens to it.

Before getting this guitar, I had an epiphone acoustic, and a mini squire strat. Ive been playing those for years and this is my first proper full scale high quality electric. It felt amazing right away. The body contour is very comfortable. It plays as good as it looks. I can not put this guitar down. 10/10.

  • Not into signature models, but had to have it anyway...

I'm one of those that loves guitars of all types. I have owned several guitars since I started playing in the early 2000's (drummer converted to guitar). I know when a guitar "speaks" and after picking this up at the local GC and plugging it in, I knew within minutes that I was playing something meant for me. I had no idea that the guitar was a signature model until after playing it for a few minutes. Normally I am very anti signature guitars, but in this case I had to make an exception. I had already decided that I loved the look, feel, and sound of it before realizing it was a Chris Schiflett Telecaster (signature on back of headstock), therefore I went against my beliefs and purchased my very first signature model. This guitar comes with a hard case. It is made in Mexico. It has the old vintage saddles that are not good. After a week of playing and truly deciding it was a full-on-keeper, I upgraded to the chrome Graph Tech saddles. BIG difference in overall feel, sound, sustain, and palm muting. The stock pickups are also very good for crunchier rock tones. I am finding that it sounds more like a Les Paul than a Tele, which doesn't bother me at all. I keep this guitar in Drop D tuning and it stays in tune all the time. Upgrade the saddles and don't look back! Pros: Beautifully made instrument Cutaway on back of guitar for comfort against your ribs (BIG bonus for a Tele) Excellent neck radius and very comfortable Strat headstock on a Tele! Really nice hot pickups Mexico is doing a fantastic job building guitars for Fender Affordable and even comes with a hard shell case (albeit case has Chris Schiflett's autograph painted on the outside) Cons: Signature Model (at least sig is on back of headstock) Truss rod was completely loose and took a few turns to catch teeth when first opened Stock saddles are horrible I would prefer the standard tuners instead of the vintage so I could switch them out for the locking Fender tuner

  • My favorite. I'll never sell this one.

Went into Guitar Center with a couple grand in my pocket and no idea what I wanted to spend it on. Picked up many styles, plugged in a few and was called to this tele deluxe. Felt incredible, sounded awesome, looks simple and classy in the shoreline gold, and whaddya know, it came with a hard case. I've bought a Baja tele, Roadhouse strat, PRS Tremonti SE Custom, and CP Jazzmaster since, and haven't been able to bond with any of them like this one.

    how much does it weigh

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 8.5 lbs.

It has a couple of scratches on the top, mostly on or around the pickguard.
