Exploring the California Player Series | Fender Acoustics | Fender

Description
Bold and brash, the chest-thumping sound of Fender's big-bodied California Series Redondo Player acoustic-electric was designed to inspire you from the moment you pick it up. The exclusive slope-shouldered Redondo body shape has a rich, commanding voice that fills any room. The gloss metallic top, back and sides, as well as a matching painted 6-in-line headstock and creme binding, give it a shot of electrifying attitude. Dynamic, unique and unconventional—like today’s guitarists—the Redondo Player refuses to be bound by the past.

The same no-compromise attitude that gives the Redondo Player its uniquely killer vibe extends to every aspect of its construction. It features optimized bracing for reduced mass and superior resonance, a Graph Tech NuBone nut and saddle for greater sustain, and a Fishman preamp system (with bass, treble, volume control and tuner) that makes it easy to plug in without sacrificing the guitar’s natural sound. The lightweight mahogany neck features a comfortable, easy-to-play, slim-taper "C"-shaped profile suitable for any playing style and its laurel fingerboard and bridge further augment its vibrant tone.

With superb playability, distinctive looks and unmistakably Fender vibe, the Redondo Player is an inspiring instrument that was made for self-expression.

Love This Guitar!!

So now that I've had this guitar for a little while I've got to say I really love it and can't believe how nice it is for under $450 list price. Though if I didn't know the price I would just think it's a great guitar period! Solid spruce top, layered mahogany back and sides, cutaway, incredibly comfortable neck profile, mahogany neck with a walnut fingerboard, Fishman CD-1 pickup, sounds great acoustically as well as through my Fishman Loudbox Mini amp, and to me it's just beautiful on top of that (love the sunburst!!). It's been a great addition to my guitar family! By the time I bought the hard shell case and the 3 year warranty it was just over $650 after TN sales tax... still all of that combined it's still a great deal for a guitar I thoroughly enjoy playing!!

She's a looker, but left me wanting more tonally.

I WANTED to love this guitar SO MUCH! It was absolutely stunning. A beautiful guitar! I had the metallic lime finish, that's no longer available. Unfortunately, it just sounded flat.. Sorta dead sounding. I kept it for a while, hoping it would "break in", or at least grow on me. I would reccomended a $150 Yamaha F335 over this, for sound. I have the Yamaha for a cheap beater guitar, can't be beat, dollar for dollar. This Fender has the looks, though! And I loved the painted Stratocaster inspired headstock! Fender DOES deliver a good product, for such a low dollar amount!

This guitar was purchased largely to practice with. It was delivered in good shape, but required an initial setup to correct some string buzz.

  • Beautiful guitar

It's a pretty good guitar for a beginner or if you're looking for a guitar you don't want to worry about getting beat up. But if you're looking for great tone quality it might not be your cup of tea.

  • Nice guitar

This Fender guitar is awesome. Out of the box it is almost perfectly set up. The intonation is off just by a little bit and only with 2 or 3 strings. The sound seems a little washed while playing chords, but single notes are loud and clear. All the frets have edge treatment, nice and smooth. The synthetic bone used for the nut and bridge are way better than plastic, allowing for a long sustain. The guitar could use better tuning keys, but the guitar stays in tune good enough. Over all my guitar was built well, and I'm glad it sounds good, too. I would recommend this guitar for all beginner guitar players because of the sound quality, and anyone else who don't have the money for their dream guitar.

What is the best fitting case for this guitar? I know that it's a Dreadnought, and I ordered the Musicians Gear Tweed Dreadnought case, but read reviews about poor form EMT with other guitars in those cases. Does Fender actually recommend a case that fits this guitar particularly well? Thanks much!!!

We have many cases to choose from. One option would be: On-Stage Acoustic Guitar Case
