Recently started trying to record some basslines and my crummy old Wal-Mart bass just wasn't cutting it. I decided to go on the hunt for a guitar. I found this guy in the store when I was going in to test out a schecter stiletto. It was tucked into a corner with a clearance tag on it. I wasn't super in love with the looks, but I wanted a p bass pickup. I didn't know anything about this bass other than occasionally Fender makes basses in Japan, but when I picked it up, it clicked with me. I was in love. The neck was flawless and it sounded incredible. Super deep lows, punchy highs, wonderful sustain, excellent setup out of the box, and a fast neck. Did I buy it then? No, I decided to save 200 dollars and buy a different bass. I took it home and was just distraught. The bass I bought just wasn't what I wanted after playing this Fender. After trying for an hour to get my new bass playable, I was done. I took it back the next day and got this bass. I still am not in love with the looks of the bass, that's just me personally, but holy cow... this bass just does it for me.
Amazing bass right out of the box!

Absolutely a joy to play! The 12" radius and fret edges make this so smooth to go up and down the fingerboard and the sound goes from a P-bass to some tasty mixes. I was looking for something genuine Fender and was contemplating a Player series or an American Professional but I am very happy I got the chance to try this out. It's a real gem and looks awesome too!
Great looking bass, Good luck with the sound

Well... Once again Fender short changed me on the pickups. They're flat and have no punch or power. I had this thing for a week and took it on stage with me. I kept having to crank up my head unit to be able to hear it. Plus the bridge screws were way too tall for the saddles. I'm a pick player and they were cutting into my pinky as I played. I had to take it to my guitar tech. After I bought a set of Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups and had him put in new saddle screws the thing plays and sounds awesome. I only have it 3 stars cause it's pretty and it's super light weight.
Classic P bass tones, with a little spice

Been a stingray owner for over 10 years (HH configuration). I needed a bass that's lighter and has less knobs but still gives me a few tones to play with. Fan of GNR's Duff and his tone, but herd that his deluxe basses are on the heavy side. TBX control was the selling point, and the pickup switch was the cherry on top. You can dial in tones from Jazz pickup is up a little to high for my liking, not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind. Boxer series checks all the boxes. Light weight, tones galore, and just different from the rest of the classic Fender options.
