Fender American Ultra Telecaster | Isaiah Sharkey First Impressions

American Ultra Telecaster | American Ultra Series | Fender
The Fender American Ultra Telecaster redefines what an electric guitar can be. Guitarists everywhere will marvel at the Ultra Telecaster's unparalleled combination of modern appointments and innovative engineering. The Ultra Telecaster's alder body provides a balanced tone with articulate lows, warm mids and sparkling highs. Its belly and arm contours deliver playing comfort for marathon practice or performance sessions. The Ultra Telecaster's Modern D neck profile and rolled fingerboard edges supply a fast, fluid feel that facilitates complex chords and intricate solos with ease.
Ultra Noiseless Pickups Provide Pristine Tone
The Ultra Telecaster's proprietary Ultra Noiseless Vintage Tele single coil pickups deliver the punchy twang that Telecaster players crave without unwanted hum or buzz. These pickups offer a wide range of vintage inspired tones from glassy cleans to overdriven growls. An S 1 switch activates both pickups in series for a beefy humbucker like output brimming with harmonic richness and depth.
Compound Radius Fingerboard Enhances Playability
The Ultra Telecaster features a modern 10" 14" compound radius fingerboard. The gradually flattening radius from nut to bridge allows chords to ring clearly while the flatter radius near the body facilitates lightning fast lead work. 22 medium jumbo frets offer ample space for expressive bends and vibrato. A tapered neck heel provides unimpeded access to upper frets for extended soloing possibilities.
Premium Appointments and Components
The Ultra Telecaster includes a bone nut, locking tuners, and chrome hardware for exceptional tuning stability, sustain and esthetics. Knurled flat top control knobs provide an ideal interface for on the fly tone adjustments. Strap locks prevent accidental drops and a premium molded hardshell case protects your investment when not in use.

It's a Tele!!!
I also own a '63 Strat, but I have always wanted a Tele. Now I have one and I love it. Nothing else sounds like a Tele. The '20 American Ultra is a great version of it. I love the locking tuning keys and the strap locks. Also, the noiseless pickups are excellent. The S1 switch adds yet another sound to an already versatile guitar. If you like Telecasters, then this one (in any color - I almost bought the also beautiful Plasma Red Burst) will do you just fine. I love mine. Happy jamming!

American Fender is dead to me
Complete and utter garbage. Came in Fretboard was terribly marred in about 9 different places FROM the manufacturer. Neck pocket gaps could hold 4 credit cards on both sides. The bridge saddle screws stood so far above the bridge it was literally impossible to play. Guitar Center took it back for me and ordered another one from the manufacturer and I waited a week and just got back from not accepting it because of same exact issues. They kindly looked for every other one in the US and there were 7 others and every single one was a return for the same reasons. This is their top of the line and over 2k offering from Corona California, US.. If you want a decent, not great, guitar from Fender you have no choice but to overpay and get a customer shop. This isn't the first time this has happened to me but now I have learned and I will NEVER buy from them again ever. I own currently a Fender custom shop and it's my lowest quality guitar from my two Schecter custom shops and my Gibson custom shop which are all flawless. As far as US Fender Corona California, it's complete garbage now. They can't even carve out a neck pocket with a C&C machine. The handwork and lack.of attention to detail regarding not even using the correct screws across the entire line of guitars is unforgivable. The marring on BOTH guitar fretboards from the the factory is unforgivable. I've been playing for over 40 years and I'm so saddened by this and thought I have to warn others. All of you should skip Fender because they surely do not deserve your money and everyone knows you pay more than you should for their name. Do yourself a favor and move to Schecter or Suhr, those are real guitars. Fender, I'm sorry but you've become pathetic, pure and simple. I can't be more disappointed, you have lost me forever. Kudos to guitar center as well as musicians friend as both were beyond helpful and apologetic and the entire floor of Guitar Center techs were also bummed and apologetic and said it's become very common for Fender across all their sources. Shame, but that is the truth, do not give them your money or you will will be dealing with returns and wasting your time. Theyre no longer deserving of your business at all.

It stays in tune a lot better than my other guitars. It's fun to play and pretty to look at. I've had my Strat for two years now but for some reason I want the Telecaster too. Don't forget to haggle.

Read a few reviews talking about quality issues. The one I received was top notch. Great fit and finish. Very playable out of the box although I'll do a full setup on it. Very pleased.

I am posting this after owning this lovely instrument for 4 years. Quality is top notch, sounds great , esp with a Tube amp, finish is great and has held up to winters and weather changes very well. Yes, they are expensive but they are very high quality too and will hold value.

It's great to play. Excellent neck action, this is a beautiful guitar. Fender created a work of art. It's wonderful to play.
I returned it...

I wrote a review too soon after buying the beautiful cobra blue Ultra Tele (titled "Great guitar"). Unfortunately I ended up returning the guitar. Why? For over $2K, I wasn't happy about the bad volume pot, rough frets that hadn't been polished, & the lack of proper setup (eg fret buzz).
