Fender American Ultra Precision Bass | Nik West First Impressions

American Ultra Precision Bass | American Ultra Series | Fender
The Fender American Ultra Precision Bass is designed for players who want the most advanced, highest performance Precision Bass ever made. The team spent over two years on intense R&D, analyzing and improving everything. Built in Corona, California, the American Ultra P Bass features new noiseless pickups, advanced electronics, tapered heel and body contours, a redesigned neck profile, a maple fretboard with rolled edges and new stage-ready finishes. It all adds up to a Precision Bass you’ll never part with. But don’t let these modern updates fool you. The vibe of the American Ultra Series Precision Bass is still classic Fender.

Ultra noiseless pickups
The American Ultra P Bass is loaded with an Ultra Jazz Bass pickup in the bridge and an Ultra Precision Bass pickup in the middle. They deliver a powerful, punchy tone with zero noise and hum.

Advanced electronics
The pickups can be further colored with an active/passive preamp, featuring new, re-voiced EQ points. The other controls on the American Ultra Precision Bass are also ultra-modern. Pickup selects are made with a pan pot. Explore more tonal possibilities with boost/cut switches for bass, midrange and treble.
New neck heel
A first for Fender, the American Ultra’s sculpted neck heel allows for effortless access to the upper frets. It’s a significant reduction in bulk at the base of the neck, super thin but structurally sound with maximum resonance.

New neck profile
The American Ultra neck has a modern-D profile. It’s flatter than a standard-D, with a faster back and a little more “meat” on the shoulders. Fender created an all-new process to apply a thin coast of satin urethane, giving the neck a completely smooth, raw wood feel. Your hands won’t stick here. The maple fretboard has rolled edges for added comfort.

I'm in about 10 hours in it. Great feel and sound. Active mode really growls. This bass is what you would expect from the Ultra line - a quality built instrument with great sound and feel. The noiseless pickups are a nice touch and are truly noiseless. I'd recommend this bass for any serious player.

This P-Bass is the dream bass I have always wanted. The attention to detail, fit-and-finish, sound, playability, and quality of this instrument are excellent. The new shape of the body contour is very comfortable. The star of the show is the neck profile which is perfection. The feel is hearty but not thick, not too thin either. I prefer this to a j-bass profile. The sound is epic even without true active circuit engaged; with active on I find myself not touching the amp EQ as I can dial in the sound on the bass itself. The bass is gorgeous with the pearlescent paint. The gold fleck compliments the fret wire and Fender scroll on the headstock.
