Introducing American Special Fender

Introducing American Special Fender

Description
Fender rolls out the American Special Telecaster Electric Guitar that delivers a healthy combination of modern and traditional tones at a price that won't drain your wallet. But don't let the stripped-down price fool you into thinking it's a stripped-down guitar.

It starts with an alder body, offering strength in construction and clarity in tone. The unique pickups on the Fender American Special Telecaster provide distinguishing sonic characteristics. The Texas Special single-coil Tele neck pickup delivers a full and meaty tone, the Texas Special Tele bridge pickup delivers that familiar Tele bite with a touch of warmth, and the Greasebucket tone circuit rolls off the highs without adding bass.

The subtle 9-1/2" radius maple neck, maple fingerboard, and jumbo frets make this Fender guitar very finger-friendly. Other features include an original-style Tele bridge with three brass saddles, an oversized '70s-style decal, and black pickup covers, plastic parts, and dot position inlays.

Includes a gig bag.

Amazing guitar!!!!

This guitar is amazing. After spending weeks reading reviews and trying out guitars, I decided that this guitar was to become my third guitar. Everything about it is just so perfect: the neck is slim, but not to slim, this with the jumbo frets make it a dream to play. The best things about this guitar are the pickups and the tone circuit. The pickups are incredible and work well with almost any type of music. The neck pickup is my favourite, it can best be described as sweet! I love my new American Special Telecaster; I will never get rid of it.

Pay a little more and get the American Standard

I bought this guitar and played it about a month before taking it back. I kept feeling like something was missing, and I realized it was when I coughed up 200 extra dollars and went with the American Standard Telecaster. The Texas Special Pickups in combination with the Greasebucket tone really limit what this guitar can do. If you primarily play country or blues, you may like this guitar, but, I would suggest you pay a little more and go with the American Standard. The bridge on the Standard, and the American Standard pickups really add some dynamics to what you can play, and really help to sustain the tone. Plus, the Standard comes with a case, valued around 110 bucks, and this guitar only comes with a 35 dollar gig bag (I paid 100 more out of pocket for a fender hard case when I bought the American Special). Also, The American Standard comes with a Fender Guitar Strap, and a Fender instrument cable. After you add all that up, the difference in the two guitars is only around 100 dollars, instead of 250. Go with the American Standard. If you like the black pickguard on the American Special, you can buy one for 34 dollars, and they are really easy to put on. Don't settle with this guitar just because you think it is the best value for an American Fender Tele... Thank goodness I took mine back and traded up before the 30 days were up.

Just sensational. People talk about the bad Texas pickup, but I find it perfect. I use it for jazz and mainly rhythm guitar.

I've never been inclined to leave a review on anything, this is the exception. Do yourself a favor, don't sleep on this Tele at this price range because they will go up in value. Fender has hit a homerun with this model. The only thing I can say is WOW!

I can't gush enough about this guitar. I've been playing for 25 years and kept overlooking the Tele, mostly because of its looks. I also had no idea what it was capable of. For the past year or so, I was trying out Squier Teles but I wasn't super impressed witht the feel or tone. I couldn't justify spending so much on an American Standard Tele either, which didn't even have the barrel saddles, which is a huge dealbreaker for me. So then I happen to see an American Special (which I was not aware of before), and instantly fell in love. The neck has a perfect feel with that satin finish, more like a worn-in vintage guitar. The pickups produce fat, punchy, yet detailed tone that I wasn't getting from lesser Teles, and the bridge with the brass barrel saddles was the icing on the cake. I slapped on a set of Fender bullet pure nickel strings, and the sound is pure vintage. I have a Strat with a bridge humbucker, and the tone is pretty similar, which is pretty shocking for a single coil. The BITE I can get out of the bridge pickup in this thing is amazing. I could keep heaping praises onto this thing, but I'll leave you with this: there's a really good reason top artist have been using the Tele for about 70 years now: it's perfect.

This guitar is an absolute dream come true. I love 80s new wave and I'm really able to get the tone of Johnny Marr, Andy Summers. I can switch it up and play some blues and Hendrix. What's great about The Texas pups is overdrive. I have a metal streak and can get some good pinch harmonics when desired. Early Zeppelin tones are also achieved with some plexi overdrive quite easily.

This is my first Telecaster. Out of the box, it was set up and ready to play - except for tuning. It has already become my favorite guitar. I plan to put beefier strings on it but the 9's that it came with don't sound as bad as I thought they would. The pickups are LOUD and clear and the fret work is smooth with no snags or burrs. The neck is straight as an arrow with a very slight relief - just like I like it. Now I know why this guitar has been around for so long.
