Absolutely love this guitar!
This guitar is fantastic. It's fun and easy to play, the fretboard is gorgeous and easy to move with quickly and accurately. The sound is exactly what I was looking for in trying to get an edgier blues sound. My other main guitar is a PRS, which has an overall bassier and narrow tonal range, with it's two humbuckers. This Fender gives me a brighter vintage quack while still proiding a decent, snappy, bass tone. And when I want to shred with it, that toggle set to the humbucker sounds great. I wasn't sure if I wanted an HSS or SSS configuration. In the end I thought this provided a much more balanced sound compared to the two American Professional models I tried which were wildly different in tone - one was very bassy, the other was too bright and quacky. The only negative is that the fretboard has two very very minor imperfections, both in areas that don't come into play while playing. Additionally, there are two half inch scratches on the back, that are unfortunately deep enough to have a groove, tho not deep enough to get through to the wood. Honestly that could've been caused by me, guitar center, or was shipped that way by the manufacturer... no idea.

Disappointed
Saw the pictures online and was excited to see it in person. When I got to the store it felt like a bait and switch move. In the pictures online you can see the body has contoured edges, in person the edges are flat like a tele. Also the "quilted maple" top has 0 movement to it, has to be a very thin veneer (and possibly why the edges aren't rounded?) For the price you would expect a lot more. Seems like they made a nice one for the pictures/ads and sent something else to the stores...

I have an Ultra (2019) strat.........good guitar. The Pale Moon is KILLER! I also have a one-of-a-kind 2013 NAMM strat. The Pale Moon is above them all.................a classic in the making. This should escalate in value.
Since 1979 the BEST electric guitar I have ever played!

I play up to 5 gigs per week and teach 50+ students. I have played paid gigs since 1979 - I own almost 30 guitars from all eras - including strats (incl the fabulous G&L USA Legacy) . This Pale Moon strat is the most incredible guitar I have ever played.....seriously. It has the spank of a strat, subtlety , clarity, bite, and the edge of a HB in the bridge for going to 11 on those stratospheric solos. Audience and players alike keep commenting that it is soooooo beautiful and players can't believe their ears at the range of sounds I get with it. It is a true piece of art and a solid workhorse. Hard to find such a true combination. My wife saw it and suggested I try it - she has incredible taste ;) It played beautifully in the shop and The day I got it home I ripped off the 9's and replaced with 10's (thats my standard) - of course it needed an extra whammy spring and a little setup and nut work but after that .....its a little sad that I may not pick up my other guitars much anymore....Friday the 13th, unlucky for some .....those that love a great stratocaster and miss out on this beast - I feel for your loss...
One of the smoothest fastest necks I've played

I play mainly rock on this guitar and its my favorite. I also play Ibanez and a Gibson Les Paul (which I also love, but for different feel and sound). The HSS setup is unique and works well. The neck finish is smooth so easy Gilmour style bending for me. I did have to setup the guitar as the action was a bit too high for me.
I bought it because I couldn't stop looking at it

What does HSS mean? Fender is always using acronyms that they don't explain to anyone, neither in the product description or anywhere on their site. Because of this no one can even begin to guess what they're trying, quite poorly, to convey.
HSS means the guitar comes with one humbucker pickup and two single coil pickups.submitted6 years ago
