Endless Energy: Daniel Donato & The American Professional Telecaster

Endless Energy: Daniel Donato & The American Professional Telecaster

Description
Fender is guided by one clear, simple directive: make life better for musicians. While the original Telecaster certainly did that (and then some), they weren’t content to rest on their laurels. Fender's team of mad scientists examined every component in near-microscopic detail. If they were able to improve it with a new design or modern materials, they did; if it didn’t need improvement, they left it alone. When the wood chips and solder fumes settled, what was left was the American Professional Telecaster—everything you need to play your best.

Developed by vintage pickup master Tim Shaw, the brand-new V-Mod single-coil pickups are voiced specifically for each position, mixing alnico magnet types to produce powerful, nuanced tones with original Fender sonic DNA. The newly redesigned Telecaster bridge sports three compensated brass barrel saddles for the perfect combination of vintage style with modern feel and performance. Retain high-end clarity when adjusting the volume controls, thanks to the new treble-bleed tone circuit that lets your tone shine through in all its glory. The modern “Deep C”- shaped neck profile feels just right in your hand while the narrow-tall frets make it easy to bend strings accurately and play perfectly intonated chords.

The best of yesterday and today, the American Professional Telecaster is the latest form of electric inspiration from Fender. Step up and stake your claim to a legend.

Perfect blend of old and new

After playing guitar for 35 years, I decided I was ready for my first T-style guitar. I'm primarily a rock guitar player (especially 70s and 80s rock), but I was getting the itch for the Tele twang. I wasn't sure initially if I wanted one with vintage specs or ulta-modern, so I tried this guitar along with the Elite and the Original '50s - all relatively newer models. I went back and forth to the Guitar Center five times before making up my mind! I ruled out the '50s because the classic U shaped neck was not comfortable for me, and the Elite had features that I didn't need (plus I had to have Butterscotch Blonde and the binding on the Elite just ruins the classic Tele look, in my opinion). In the end I chose the Professional Tele, and I'm so glad I did - I feel like it's the perfect blend of old and new. It looks like a classic Tele but with modern appointments that I really appreciate. I was initially nervous that the Deep C neck profile would not be comfortable (I'm very much used to thin "shredder" guitar necks), but I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the fuller neck feels in my hand. The pickups sound great although I thought the '50s had the most vintagey tone (no surprise). The treble bleed circuit (while not new) is such a cool concept, especially when you have a slightly driven sound and want to back it down a bit. I do not give 5 stars very often, but this guitar inspires me so much.

Fret Buzz...

I was looking for an American Tele with rosewood fretboard. Finally found one. Played it for a while, seemed OK other than a LITTLE fret buzz. Figured a tech could remedy that... So Decided to go for it, and 2 luthiers later, still fret buzz even more so! Very annoying being this is an AMERICAN made Tele. Second luthier said he could do fret work ($200), but can't guarantee the buzzing will stop. Will eventually sell. Also, a misaligned screw on bridge plate. : (

I purchased this for hobby use however I think it would be suitable for professionals. It looks great and feels great to play. I own an older MIM Strat and the quality difference between the MIM and American guitar is evident.

  • I love this guitar!! I have the butterscotch color.

I was suprised at the clearity of tone that comes from this guitar. I don't use boxes that take away from the natural sound and tone of a guitar and this one has the tone dream are made of. Even with some overdrive the tone remains amazingly true.

How is the treble-bleed on this guitar? I love my older tele but I lose so much sound when I turn down the volume, a must for playing in a band with a singer. Will treble-bleed help?

    Open Reply - Ronald
As far as treble-bleed I have really ever experienced much of it on the newer versions of it. Give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can look into this a bit and see if we can help you with your sound problem.
