Fender American Original '60s Jaguar

Fender American Original '60s Jaguar

Description

Created to be the top-of-the-line Fender in 1962, the short-scale (24") Jaguar was an instant hit with surf bands. Over the years it was adopted by punk and alternative bands, in part because of its unique "strangle" bass-cut switch and angular good looks. The American Original '60 Jaguar perfectly captures that vibe and sound, with an updated, modern fretboard radius for easy playing. Period-correct pickups and vintage tuners match with the original locking floating tremolo for an amazingly versatile instrument.

I've had this Jag for almost a year now and I have played it almost everyday. At first I was not sure I would get along with the fat neck but it has a nice shape that fits in my hand very nicely. I love the tones I can get out of it, from fat and jazzy to sizzle, add fuzz pedal and heaven awaits. I love the nitro finish. Some people say it doesn't make a difference, poly vs nitro but I feel and hear a difference. The guitar body just resonates more than my other guitars. This guitar is expensive but it's the only Jag I will ever own.

  • Original (not Original Specs) is uniquely amazing

Just received this and it is beautiful in every way. Yes it is not an AVRI Yes the neck radius is not vintage spec (9.5, not 7.25) Yes there is white binding (like a '65 btw) Yes it has a gloss nitro lacquer (beautiful btw) These and other elements (the pickups esp and the overall build quality/playability) make this guitar amazing and also make it original (which doesn't mean original specs-it means uniquely blending old and new into an original instrument). I sound like a rep. but I'm not-just a guitar player/collector very much taken by this incredible instrument!

Is the Indonesian made Jaguar with vintage controls and the same color as this one the same body size? If I put vintage Fender Jaguar pickups and a Mastery tremelo on an Indonesian Jaguar will it sound close to this American Jaguar. If not exactly what would be different? Thanks for your help ! Steve

It's going to sound like a American Jaguar as is. Don't get too caught up in the location of the build. Parts are very similar.
