Fender Alternate Reality Meteora HH Electric Guitar | Demo from NAMM 2019

Fender Alternate Reality Meteora HH Electric Guitar | Demo from NAMM 2019

Description

Motion meets balance with a touch of elegance with the Meteora HH, which sports a sleek body shape that carries on Fender's tradition of arresting aesthetic design. The sound is as propulsive as its visually stimulating lines—it wants to roar on stage, thanks to the two fat-sounding Player Series humbucking pickups. With its retro-modern offset body shape, the Meteora HH has guts and grace and is distinctively Fender.

Looks and sounds great but it has serious static noise issues caused by the larger body cavity and crazy electronics. When I got it home I noted that when I anchored my pinky on the pick guard and moved it around there was a static ground noise present. I had to open the pick guard and wrap the electronics with some tin foil to get rid of it. Also the intonation was completely out, needed setup from truss rod to saddles to get it right. Now it sounds great, no complaints, but for the price this should have been ready to go- a little disappointing, but I guess it had been in the store for a while so who knows.

This is the second review of this product that I purchased from Guitar Center but returned. They censored my first review. I am going to make a video of this review and will post it to YouTube if Guitar Center doesn't post my HONEST review. I am a verified purchaser of this product and that will be included in my video. I really, really wanted this guitar. I got a deal on this by using a coupon and when it arrived, I was very disappointed. The neck had a major bow on it and the intonation was so horrendous that if it was tuned on open strings, it was out of tune on the first fret. I took the guitar to the Guitar Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland to see if it could be fixed and if they would fix it. They said it was unlikely to be able to be set up correctly due to the severity of the bow in the neck. The store did have another one of these in the same color but it was also similarly bowed in the neck and had a horrible setup on it. The store took the guitar back and I ended up buying an American Telecaster that is vastly superior to this guitar. The Meteora looks cool but from my experience, they are lemons. Try it before you buy it.

I'm a lover of offset fenders, especially vintage. Although this isn't vintage, it definitely fills those big shoes. I love to play it, great weight and sustain. Comfortable neck. I have over 20 years experience and this is about tied for playtime with my 65 mustang. I love how versatile it is with the coil splitting as well. I got lucky and got mine second hand (mint condition) for under $600. I'm floored by the value.

  • Great guitar for the money

Hands down my favorite guitar I've ever owned (I've had around 30). I'm not a fan of the pick ups, I prefer Seymour Duncan and play rock music, so I swapped it out for the FULL SHRED pickup. Def recommend doing so also.

Can this be made left handed for extra cost?

    Open Reply - Ronald
It would require some modifications. I would recommend reaching out to your local store to see how much it would cost and if they have a tech that can do this type of setup.

Have you had any signal bleed trouble when one volume pot is zeroed and the other at 10?

    Open Reply - Ronald
Not that I am aware of. I have heard of the issue happening with a couple models of MIM strats or Tele's, but when it does happen, it can be fixed with a bit of EQ from the amp.

Does the body shape fit cases well like gator cases?

That will depend on which Gator case you are putting this model in
