D'Addario Core: How to Change and Tune a Snare Drum (Bottom)

The Evans Genera HD Batter Coated Snare Head is a premium drum head that provides a blend of warmth, attack, and control. Constructed from two plies of film—an outer 5mil ply and an inner 7.5mil ply—this 14" white snare drum head features a 2mil overtone control ring that eliminates excessive overtones and sustains notes with clarity. The coated finish yields a full, balanced response for articulate rimshots and a focused center tone. Built to withstand the demands of live performance yet versatile enough for studio recording, the Evans Genera HD Batter Coated Snare Head cuts through any mix with a sound that is both natural and responsive.
Two-Ply Durability and Enhanced Tonal Control
The two-ply construction of the Genera HD Batter Coated Snare Head provides durability for consistent and reliable performance. The 5mil outer ply and 7.5mil inner ply also enable enhanced control over tone, allowing players to achieve a range of sounds from crisp articulation to warm resonance. The integrated 2mil overtone control ring helps produce a balanced response across the drum head by reducing unwanted overtones and enabling clear, focused pitch.
Coated Finish for Robust, Natural Tone
The coated finish of the Genera HD Batter Coated Snare Head provides a full, warm tone that is versatile for both live and studio applications. The coating helps produce rich, articulate sounds with a natural resonance. Rimshots and center strikes are balanced, enabling precision and control. The coating also helps reduce unwanted overtones for a clean, focused pitch.

Great head, great sound
The Evans HD Genera snare head produces great sounds from even the cheapest snares. The head is double ply and coated, offering a moderately warm, moderately focused sound. The sound will stay alive through any tuning and cut through guitars like butter. Being a double ply coated head, the HD (Heavy Duty) head will give you peace of mind knowing it is built tough and will last as long as you want it to. Even dents are hard encounter in these heads! If you're looking for a medium, even sound, no matter the snare, this is a great buy.

Got it to control overtones, and excessive ringing. Didn't sound noticably different than a UV2. Going to try Remo.

I had been using a thin Remo head on my snare, never thought i'd ever touch an Evan's, went to guitar center to look for the same replacement Remo head, but they didn't have it because it was very specific. So an employee recommended an Evan's head and i like it even better than the Remo.
