Description
EVANS Hydraulic snare batter heads give you the fat, deep, short sound pioneered by rock and roll drummers in the 1970s. Made with a thin layer of oil between two plies of 7-mil film, these frost coated heads not only suppress unwanted overtones, but are also famously easy to tune. Hydraulics have a defined attack, short sustain and dark tonal character—plus extra warmth, focus and depth, thanks to EVANS' frost coating. This coated drum head also features Level 360 Technology. This is the blue version, model B14HB.

    I bought this thinking it would improve the sound of my snare to a more dark sound. Perhaps I am not experienced enough, but it sounds similar after tuning it. I will continue evaluating and playing with the tune. It may be my tune rather than the head. The overall impression is good. I like the feel and durability. The color looks nice on my kit.

    I bought this for a 14X5 snare but quickly put it on a 14X7 and it sounds perfect. What a throaty pop! If you do a lot of stick work on the snare this might not be a good pick but for that classic rock pop, it's perfect.
