Each track supports per-step adjustment of note, glide, gate length, modulation depth, probability, repeats, ratcheting and microtiming, allowing sequences to evolve far beyond simple step patterns. The underlying design is derived from the Hexinverter and Erica Synths philosophy of keeping controls tuned to musical “sweet spots,” making it fast to dial in usable results without sacrificing depth. Individual level control and dedicated outputs ensure seamless routing into external modules, processors or full modular voices.

Advanced Sequencing, Scales and Song Construction

Built around an X0X-style workflow, the Black Sequencer offers hands-on step programming with minimal menu diving, thanks to one-function-per-button access and a clear OLED display. Patterns can run up to 64 steps with independent track lengths, time divisions, multiplications and play directions—including forward, reverse, ping-pong and random—opening the door to polymetric and polyrhythmic sequencing. A built-in quantizer supports preset and user-defined scales, including microtonal tuning, while song mode allows patterns to be chained into full arrangements with repeat and stop control. Projects are stored across 16 banks of 16 patterns and backed up via SD card for reliable recall and transport between systems.
