Guitar Geniousness
The Epiphone PR-150 is a great guitar for beginners. I would know that because I am a beginner and I've found it much easier than most other guitars I've used. It neck is much thinner so it works well for people with small hands (like girls). I have two older brother's who are much more professional with guitars that loved the guitar. The sound and quality of this guitar is great. I'm really that I went out and bought this guitar. So what I'm really trying to say is that I think it would be a great idea to try this guitar out and see how good it is yourself.

Short life
I played the guitar in the store and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it played and how good it sounded for the price. So I bought it and took it home. Hung it on the wall next to 7 other guitars, a few of them in the 2k price range. Within 2 months the high E and B string began bottoming out between the 10th and 13th fret. I carefully filed the frets down to adjust. After 2 more months all 6 strings bottom out between the 10th and the 14th fret. I adjusted the truss rod. Now strings are way too high at the 5th fret but still bottom out when played at the 10th through the 14th fret. The guitar neck has warped into a veritable roller coaster where the action is bottoming out at the 12th and way too high above and below the 12th fret. It is now a useless guitar. Some have had hood results. I suspect the wood on my neck is too soft.

This guitar is amazing for the price

I bought this same model when I was 13, and it's been an awesome guitar for more than 20 years. Like any cheap guitar, you hope to get lucky like I did and end up with a "good" one — inevitably some will be duds or have defects, and all will need a good professional setup. My Epi has been an absolute tank, with the finish handling all sorts of drops and abuse over the years, including trips across the world. The neck has always been very playable, and it stays in tune remarkably well. Probably hard to believe, but I own lots of fancy acoustics now and I'd head-to-head this sounds and plays almost as good as my D28 and J45 that are 20 times more expensive. Just be prepared to return it if you do get a dud (and definitely have it set up). Perfect guitar for a beginner.
It's good for about four years

Overall, it's a pretty solid guitar, but the drawback is that it requires constant tuningg and the bridge got destroyed by itself after four years. Overall, it's a decent guitar for practicing.

I bought this guitar for my daughter's guitar class. I played all of the budget priced guitars, sub $250. It came down to a Yamaha F335 or the Epiphone. This was the easiest to play in the cowboy chord region, intonation was spot on, and so I had to convince the employee to let me buy the floor model. These guitars can vary wildly in the quality of setup out of the box. He relented and I left with the Epiphone. I got it home and started playing it and found a few dead notes around the 14th fret. D'oh! I spent 30 minutes sanding down a high fret and now she plays great all over the board. This is a great guitar for campfires and will take a guitarist a long way. Perfect for a classroom full of rambunctious kids. Or sitting nearby in the living room for working out a chord progression for a composition. Expect to need some setup and if you're not comfortable with doing it yourself take the store up on their offer of a setup.
