In Love Again and Quickly
I play solo gigs three nights per week in the spring/summer/fall in a small Colorado mountain town. Guitar, harmonica, and vocals through two matching Fishman Loudbox Artist amps. I bought my first Epiphone EJ200 in ebony in 2014 thinking that in the event it didn't play well, it would look fantastic on the wall. I took it along with my Gibson Super Jumbo 200 to the next Friday's gig. I got halfway through with the Gibson, and decided to try the new ebony Epiphone EJ200. I was astounded. I have since used the ebony, "Black Dog" for 95% of my performances since. "Oh, I thought it was a Gibson. It's only an Epiphone."---"Right. The Gibson is in the gig bag. It's my backup." I have since purchased two more Epiphone EJ200s. I saw this 12 string offered last week asd a "limited edition" and ordered it immediately. I have owned an Ovation Custom Legend 12 string for over fifteen years, gorgeous and gig worthy, and well as a Rickenbacker 360 12 string for two decades which is also a dandy. I have had two 30 minute sessions both unplugged and plugged in with this new Epiphone EJ 200 12 string, and like the original ebony 6 string, "Black Dog", this new EJ200 12 is astounding. It is visibly gorgeous. Ir frets more easily and more naturally than some of my 6 string guitars. (I own 15---"tools" that pay for themselves) And the sound both unplugged and plugged in is angelic, or at least remarkable. I think I've found another "Oh, I thought it was a Gibson" incredible instrument by Epiphone. I've been performing gigs for about three decades now. It would have been nice to have owned this baby years ago. Thank you Epiphone, and thank you Guitar Center for getting this thing where it belongs, strapped around my neck and in my hands. Wonderful guitar!!!!

A big disappointment
After buying and receiving his guitar I'm really surprised by all the glowing reviews here. I only had to play it for a few minutes to be completely underwhelmed and disappointed. First of all, it has a neck like a tree trunk and the fretboard is unusually wide. In addition, I felt like the sound of it was very small considering it's such a big guitar. Also, the balance of it was way off, making it really uncomfortable to play. I know that all new guitars need a setup, but this one was borderline unplayable, with the "G" string sounding like a sitar. On the plus side, I did feel like the tuners were very good, smooth and accurate. Thankfully Guitar Center has a very musician friendly return policy, and my money was cheerfully refunded. All the great reviews definitely influenced my decision to buy this guitar, so I thought I should offer my take, which is in pretty radical opposition to the reviews here.

Epiphone knocked it out of the park with this. Plays and sounds absolutely incredible. Went and tried a few 12 strings and wasn't impressed at all saw this one by itself in the corner and bought it within 5 mins of playing it

Purchased for my grandson. He was completely surprised and thrilled. He tuned it immediately (didn't require much) and started playing. He loves it and to the rest of us the sound is great!
Great instrument.

Great overall, only has one small blemish. The binding on treble side at the 9th fret has a small nick that has been smoothed over slightly. Everything else is what I expected from an Epiphone acoustic.
I like the way an Epiphone J200 feels and plays

I took this guitar out for its first gig two days ago and its second gig yesterday. Plugged into a Fishman Loud Box Artist, the guitar sounded angelic. With a touch of flange, it blew even my mind. I play three nights per week now and look forward to the summer season. I have an old ebony EJ200 plugged into the Loud Box on my left and the EJ200 !2 plugged into the other matching Loud Box on my right. I reach for one and then the other. Thanks to Guitar Center, it's certainly a groovy thing. Excellent guitar. Thanks again!

The top specification states solid spruce. Is it Sitka Spruce? If not, what type of spruce is it?
I’m very sorry, the manufacturer has not made that information available.
