Epiphone Casino

The Epiphone Casino isn’t just a guitar—it’s a rock ’n’ roll time machine. First introduced in 1961, the Casino quickly carved out its place in music history with its resonant tone, striking hollowbody design and unique voice that cuts through the mix without overpowering it. It’s famously lightweight and incredibly responsive, making it a favorite for dynamic rhythm work and articulate leads. Most importantly, it helped define the sound of the British Invasion and beyond. From the jangly drive of “Ticket to Ride” to the snarling fuzz of “Revolution,” the Casino was the Beatles’ not-so-secret weapon—played by John Lennon, George Harrison and Paul McCartney across some of their most groundbreaking work. Epiphone likes to call the Casino one of their greatest contributions to music, and we're not about to disagree. In a catalog that also includes classics like the Masterbilts and Emperors, it says a lot about the Epiphone Casino guitars that they still manage to stand out as much as they do. They owe a lot of their popularity to their association with the Beatles, but Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison weren't the only artists to use one of these instruments. Over the years, the Casino has also found itself in the hands of Carl Wilson, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Keith Richards and Gary Clark, Jr., to name just a few of the legendary musicians that have helped to make this instrument equally legendary. The story of the Epiphone Casino goes back to 1961, when the company was still going through a lot of changes after merging with Gibson. The idea was to introduce a new design that would keep the prestige of the Epiphone name going strong, and although the Casino looked a lot like a Gibson ES-335 at a glance, it differed in that it was (and still is) a true hollowbody, delivering stage-ready clear, ringing tone that loves to be overdriven. It became an instant hit for the stage and studio alike, contributing to recordings like Pet Sounds and the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Today, you have a few options to choose from to own the iconic Casino yourself. Start with the Epiphone Casino Coupe Hollowbody Electric Guitar if you'd like a model that fits handily into any budget, or the Epiphone Casino Electric Guitar for the classic version of the instrument. Looking for a Casino that's actually lived through its own rich history? In that case, take a look at some of the vintage guitars in this section. There's nothing more authentic than a Casino guitar straight from the golden age of the 1960s. Of course, no matter which Epiphone Casino in this section turns out to be the right choice for you, there's one thing that goes without saying: you're going to love this guitar. The roster of artists who have sworn by their Casinos over the years is enough to make that prediction. There's magic in the ring of a hollowbody combined with Epiphone's versatile design - and all it takes is a few minutes of playing to find out what that magic can do for you.
