In this aptly named box you'll find a huge range of killer high gain tones. From crisp, mid-driven '80s metal, to scooped, modern down-tuned brutality, this little box of sonic mayhem does it all.
The two independent channels can be voiced similarly so that one channel can be used as a solo boost, or they can be voiced entirely differently by using the mid-range control in conjunction with the 3-position mid-frequency select switch. Add in separate weight controls to shape the low end response of each channel, and a global hi/low eq section that allows you to fine tune your particular amp and cab combination, and you've got a serious tool to create a supremely heavy sounding rig.
On top of all this Empress added an extremely responsive and hassle-free noise gate that will ensure dead silent operation with even the most obscene amounts of gain added.

Comments about Empress Effects Heavy Dual-Channel Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
I unplugged my boss me-80 multi effects pedal and have not used it since. If you like playing Metal, this pedal is fantastic and pretty much all you need. The Noise Gate is fantastic. make sure you take the time to understand how to set the volume of the amp in concordance with the output of the pedal to get the best tone.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Empress Effects Heavy Dual-Channel Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
This pedal takes an amazing amp and makes it twice as good. I run my Empress Heavy on the front side of both my Peavey 3120 and Egnater Armageddon. Both of these amps sound amazing on their own. But when I run the Empress Heavy on the front side on the clean channel of the amp, holy moly, the amp goes to a whole new level. Empress Heavy on the amp clean channel blows away the amp on the lead or crunch channel without the Empress. I can't ever imagine not having the Empress Heavy on my pedal board. It is just an amazing pedal. I have tried literally 50+ different drive and distortion pedals before finding the Heavy. Yes, it's expensive, but trust me, it's worth it when you hear the tone and EQ this pedal has. The built in noise gate with three settings is also fantastic and works extremely well. If you're patient you can find these used for good prices.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
