Not Your Average Pedal
The Holy Stain is a real nice pedal when used tastefully. It's got room and hall reverb that can make you sound like your in a cavernous setting. It sounds really nice when the amount of reverb is just right mixed with its two distortion settings and three tone colors. There's a fuzz, and drive that can be mixed w/ dark, bright, and warm. You have to be very careful when using the pitch shifter so that you don't over do it or come out sounding like you've never played the guitar before. It shifts the note up a third or down a fourth and anywhere in b/t. The tremolo is like any other and the rate can be adjusted as well as the depth. It's a drag you can only use an adapter but it comes w/ one so it kinda makes up for it. I recommend getting an expression pedal so you don't have to be turning knobs all the time. This is a great pedal once you learn how far it can go and the subtleties tied w/ in it. It's more for the experimentalist.

To start with, I am not a great guitarist, nor do I do any live playing so this review will be based on playing in the home. I recently got the Tone Tattoo and the Holy Stain. You can read my review about the Tone Tattoo (it is great!). The Holy Stain, however, was not so good. First, it is noisy. I knew that going in, but I didn't realize what noise was until I got this buzz factory. It is super quiet and clean on the reverbs, pitch shifter, and tremelo. Too quiet even. You have to turn the volume way up to get sound at the same volume your amp was before you engaged the pedal. But if you try to engage the Overdrive or Fuzz at this volume you will be cleaning the blood from your ears off of your equipment. There is no happy middle, it is either too quiet or too loud. And the Fuzz and Overdrive sound like you are trying to play with your amp submerged in mud. I was playing a Fender Telecaster and Mustang through an Ampeg GVT52-112 which has a nice clean channel. Until you add this pedal. My review may be a bit harsh, but I want to prevent hearing damage, frustration, and anger from as many people as I can. Electro Harmonix makes great stuff, just not this pedal.

This thing is so good. The only minor drawback is that it takes a certain amount of dialing in of your various amp settings to compensate for the static maxed out gain circuit on the dirt side. But the reverb alone is worth the time and effort of fine tuning for use. Seriously. Buy it even if all you need is reverb. It's pretty killer.
Great pedal! Try one you won't be disappionted!

I've tried many pedal and love the idea of a multi effects pedal but so many of the sound artificial to me and I HATE having a huge pedal board full of effect you only use once in a while. The Holy Stain has just the right balance and sounds GREAT! Love the reverbs, fuzz and distortion the pitch shift was suprizingly good and although I normally don't like a tremolo effect I found it useful as well. The reverbs are just like the holy grail, the distortion is reminiscent of the Proco Rat and the fuzz is very authentic as well. I love that you can blend the wet and dry signal. I bought mine use at GC and it's great!

This pedal is very cool. The reverb is some of the best in the business. I recently bought a Vox AC4 and wanted a reverb pedal. The Holy Stain has more than that! Analog distortion is great, but you can't switch between the two distortions with the footswitch. Also, you can't adjust the amount of gain. The tremolo and pitch functions are cool, but the reverb is not available when using either of those two functions. All in all a cool practice pedal with some great sounds, but not something I would intend to use live.

Un Pedal Muy Versatil, Lastima Que Los Cambios De Clean-Fuzz-Drive No Se Pueden Hacer Con Un Switch Como Lo Hacen En Los Efecto De Reverb-Shifter-Tremolo. Muy Bueno Si Es Recomendado, Eso Si, No Tiene Para Bateria PEro Viene Con Su Adaptador De Corriente.
