Elation Stage Setter 8 DMX Controller

I would recommend it. If you can read and understand DMX it's easy. However the power wort that plugs in the unit is sub standard. the unit is pro but the design on pluging it in is bush league to say the least. I went through 5 power worst till it finally blew the power board. bought a new one and again the power board got killed by the wall wort. it has a fuse inside, but it doesn't work. That's the only reason I wouldn't recommend it. other than that it works like a champ. to bad elation you have a nice unit. but your power design sucks.

Don't buy,directions on how to use are worthless,very difficult to set-up, played with it an entier day and still can nopt get it to do what it says it can do. Not rackable,not mobile DJ friendly. Would not recommend to anyone! Avoid this product at all costs.

I have worked with a few lighting systems now, some with more advanced and expensive lighting equipment but I used this board recently to start out DMX lighting at a local church with the eventual expectation to upgrade. I absolutely recomend this board for startup of a lighting system as it is a cheap solution that will create a lighting expereince of some kind at least until you get a chance to upgrade everything.

We purchased this along with two dimmer packs to be the base of our upgrade into DMX lights. After sitting down for about 5 minutes I was able to figure out most of what everything does. Instruction booklet is rather vague, would need to talk to someone to get a real understanding. Very simple to program custom patterns, and easy to use. Great for a first time user.

All is I can say is, SWEET! It meets my greatest expectations. And is very affordable. Perfect for those just getting started out with their own lighting system, or those who don't need all that fancy digital and intelligent controllers. I love it.

I use this board on a weekly basis to run the light show for a metal band. It has almost everything I need, value is no question. The tap sync is indispensable, and not usually found on controllers in this price range. Having a fog controller on the board with a ready light has actually eliminated the need for someone else running the fog. The pre programmed chase patterns are nice, and the ability to program your own is a nice touch. It makes for cool intro's. The operation is intuitive with a learning curve of minutes. For its size and price its dynamite, all I could ask for would be more chase channels.
