EVH

Description

From Eddie Van Halen comes the Wolfgang, representing over 35 years of cumulative EVH experience and expertise in guitar design. The process undertaken to develop the Wolfgang took over two years of intense trial-and-error research. The formidable task yielded a series of prototypes that endured a full year of brutal in-concert road testing by Eddie on Van Halen's triumphant 2007–2008 world tour. The result is a bulletproof and beautiful tonal giant of a guitar that takes whatever you can dish out and then asks for more.

As the Van Halen tour kicked off in the fall 2007, Eddie pushed every aspect of the Wolfgang's performance capabilities to the absolute limit, playing various Wolfgang prototypes every night on virtually every song. As the tour roared along, Eddie changed and adjusted components and specs until he was satisfied with the Wolfgang's sound, feel and looks. To prove that it was battle-worthy and could survive the road, performance data was collected from every gig for months and months to establish and confirm consistency and durability. This is what makes the Wolfgang the culmination of Eddie Van Halen's endless pursuit of outstanding tone, durability and consistency.

Available to the public beginning in January 2009, the EVH Wolfgang guitar is built to his exact specs and has every single feature of the Wolfgang guitars he himself plays onstage and in the studio. It's exactly what he uses. "Everything that I've built, destroyed, stumbled onto, learned and experienced is in this guitar," Eddie Van Halen said. "Every aspect and component of this guitar has been examined and upgraded to the highest standards possible: stainless steel frets, double-potted custom-wound pickups, five-piece binding on the matching body and headstock, custom-made signature tuning machines and Floyd Rose bridge, new low-friction pots, and the list keeps going. We left no stone unturned."

By Far, The Best!!!

I have purchased every guitar that Eddie has ever endorsed or put his name on. Except for the Fender Frankenstein replica. (Unfortunately, I can't afford that one!!!) But... from the Kramers in the mid-80's, to the EB MM, Peavy Wolfgang, and the Charvel Art Series, I have them all. The new EVH Wolfgang blows them all away!!! The neck has such an amazing feel, that you don't want to put it down!!! The pickups sound great cranked through the 5150 III amp, and the guitar looks so awesome that pictures of it don't do it justice. I am positive that this guitar is destined to become a classic!!! Thanks Eddie... keep the great music gear comming!!!!!

Terrible quality control

Do not buy without seeing/playing. I waited 6 months for this to arrive and was SO looking forward to it. The finish is absolutely beautiful, which makes the rest of the story that much more depressing. The tremolo, specifically the D-Tuna, does not fit the cavity. It hits the body when in regular E tuning. When I first picked it up, it wasn't surprising that it wasn't exactly tuned after shipping, though it was actually close. However the sixth string was tuned to E, with the D-Tuna disengaged (so should have been a D). I thought that was an odd mistake, but realized after trying to engage the D-Tuna into regular E position that whoever did the final setup did that on purpose because it won't go into E position without totally colliding with the body! Oh and the bridge pickup is totally loose and wobbling. That can probably just be tightened, but please... This is the second EVH Wolgang USA I've seen since Eddie's death that has had major, similar problems. The other's bridge pickup worked intermittently, and again the D-Tuna was hitting the body. It would be one thing if this was a cheap, import guitar. But at this price, these issues are unacceptable. So again, hold and examine the guitar yourself before buying.

An amazing instrument with incredible tone. Just "Wow!" on the clarity and crunch and harmonics from these pickups. Sounds phenomenal and it's so much fun to play. I initially had reservations about the smaller, vintage size frets, but unlike nickel wire on a rosewood or maple fretboard, the combination of stainless steel frets on the ebony fretboard makes bends feel slick and effortless, even with a very low action, and I don't miss larger frets at all. Not at all like small frets on the Strat or Les Paul, which generate a lot of friction. The EVH makes for very easy bends, fast runs, and chords. A terrific mix of massive tone and playability, and a great looking flame top. I highly recommend this instrument. The only downside is the price tag, and I'd suggest considering a used one if it's too spendy.

I saved and saved for a very long time to get one of these. I have been playing for a long time and THIS ONE is it !!! Every word in the company description of this guitar and the specs are 100% true. The most powerful expression of tone and harmonics I have ever experienced in my life. Incredible quality and precision in every part of the guitar. I've owned this guitar for about 6 months now and I will never sell it or let it go for ANY PRICE ! This thing is a Dream Machine for any guitar enthusiast - It sounds soo good on almost any amp you plug in to but sounds best on a tube amp. I currently have it on a Peavy XXX 212 tube amp - JUST MIND BLOWING !!! Worth every penny and then some ! It would be very hard to be disappointed with this guitar. Just try one out and see for yourself.

  • SO FAR, THE BEST GUITAR FOR ROCK AND BLUES

If you like a consistent, solid, and technically superior electric guitar, the Wolfgang, IS THE RIGHT GUITAR. It's the quality, the maple neck, the body with directly mounted custom EVH pick ups... The EVH-floyd rose, with the EVH d-tuner... ...and what about the indestructible stainless steel frets ?? If you've never tried one of these exclusive guitars, well, you don't know what you're missing. The color of the tone, is so sweet and warm, and at the same time you can turn it into a hard rock monster, where harmonics, and crystal clear overdrive...literally kick butt.

I read reviews of this and decided to buy one and felt comfortable with Guitar Center's return policy. The finish is flawless, action is very low, no buzz anywhere on the neck. Someone said the fretwork was rough...compared to what I don't know. My fret wires are jewel smooth with no sign of dressing tool marks or leveling. They shine like chrome. The pots are smooth and turn effortlessly. The pickups are perfect for this guitar. I always find myself turning up the volume knob on other guitars when playing but not with this one! I've been playing for 30+ years and own some high end instruments to compare it to. My only complaint is the quilted top. I wish it was an AAAA top instead of AA. This however does not affect they playability of this instrument. I can't explain the satisfaction I had when I plugged this in and wailed on it. It's kind of like manipulating a lion to do whatever you want.

I have the Tobacco Burst, beautiful guitar, plays great, no issues whatsoever. Stays in tune very well, not a huge deal but other guitars I have owned (PRS Custom 24, a Strat or two) were always out of tune, lots of humidity changes in MO.- but the EVH Wolfgang stays in tune for weeks-- must be indicative of something. Excellent fit and finish to the instrument, even nicer than my PRS. Love the non-oversized SS frets and compound radius neck with unfinished back-perfect for me anyhow! Yes, they are not cheap but I am very satisfied, sold my other 2 electrics and just 'rockin with the Wolfgang now- would highly recomend. Happy New Year to all!
