Experience the EVH Lunchbox Head

EVH
Description
A mighty sonic force to be reckoned with, the EVH 5150III 15W LBX is an easy-to-carry "lunchbox" guitar amp head but don™t let its diminutive size fool you; it's packed to the gills with searing tone. Armed with five ECC83S (12AX7) and two EL84 tubes for incredible high gain sound, it performs like an arena-filling champ. Two flexible channels, the famous EVH Blue "Crunch" and Red "Full Burn," combine with the familiar low/mid/high/presence tone controls and 1/4 power switch so you can easily dial-in your own roaring Variac-less "brown" sound. Dial up a tasty crunch for rhythm work and then when it' time for a face-melting solo, stomp on the included footswitch to call up an intense lead tone with tons of singing sustain. For colossal tone and serious crunch in a compact package, look no further than the EVH 5150III 15W LBX.

Great amp! Easy to transport! Loud enough to gig with!

I picked up this amp (5150III LBX) at Guitar Center Tampa. It was the store display model so I got a few bucks off. I was impressed in the store and couldn't wait to get this thing home to really check it out. Well I must say this amp has continued to impress me over and over again! I also own the 5150III 50 watt version that I bought used off the GC website. It's a great amp as well but for some reason it seems lacking in a way I can't really describe. With the LBX I get plenty of that great EVH crunch at fairly low gain settings. It allows my fingers to fly over the fretboard. With the 50 watt model, I struggle to get that feeling. It seems I am having to drag the amp along instead of it pushing me along. If any of that makes sense..... Plus this amp is just about as loud as the 50 watt version. I don't use the 50 watter volume over about 10 o'clock so the LBX at about 12 or 1 o'clock is perfect for my stage volume. 15 watts is 70% as loud as 50 watts. And you get that all important, sweet power tube breakup in the mix. Plus with the Resonance control on the back of the amp you can make it sound huge! I have experimented and found the Celestion Creamback 75 in an open back cab sounds better than a Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks. I own both cabs and the 4x12 just doesn't cut it. Moral of the story is I carry this little amp and a 1x12 cab, plus my effects and cables, and I'm done!! Easy set-up and break-down! That's what I'm talking about!!

    Another GC Screw Job.

As expected, so far, not one of my purchases from GC has worked out. This GARBAGE P O S brick was an open box they dumped on me as working, refurbished, from someone who bought it new and found it defective and sent it back. I will NEVER buy another product from GC again.

Listen if you playing parkway drive, code orange, slipknot, killswitch, gojira, or even anime themes. Or any type of metal heavy or light get this amp. This is the coldest amp on the planet and I use a 2x12 Marshall stop pondering and stop reading this is it. Gain 7 low 10 mid 0 high 5 presence 6-8. And all metal is yours. Never expected this outta this amp.(if you play sabbath and zeppelin get an orange dark terror that shiz is gas asl)

I love high gain amps and this fits the bill. I wanted huge gain and I'm not disappointed. There are some minor downsides which I knew of before ordering which are a bit of high gain hiss, there aren't 2 volume controls and the blue channel is a little louder than the red channel. And it's so loud you can hardly crack the volume even in 1/4 watt mode. But all that can be worked around and I'm playing it to death.

Great little amp. I'm sure everyone already knows that though. This thing is powerful, if you like a lot of gain or just a little look no further. The one thing that impresses me is the amount gain it has with a lot clarity.

    • Just the amp I needed.

I have no need for a clean channel so this amp is perfect for me. Sounds great. Not much of a difference between full power and 1/4 power volume. I wish the power switch was on the front.

Anything that does not need a super clean channel. This amp can do all rock. This amp can do amazing metal. Low to more gain than you need Vintage to modern. Eq is comprehensive and fully useable.

Foot switch. I lost mine during a move, can I replace the original with the Fender 1 foot switch pedal as it's like $30 cheaper.. I've read elsewhere i can use the fender.

      It's a latch key switch --------- generic 1/4" TS connection. It'll work.

Does this come with the cable to power the amp head would this also work with a EVH 5750 772ST 1x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet?

      Yes and yes.

Will it power my Blackstar 4x12 cabinet?

      Open Reply - Beau
This is only a 15 watt head, so it would not be able to power a 4X12 cabinet.
